Eight Endure Excessive Examination

Post by Bozo »

Another large turnout at Dome Vic Park to farewell the quartet heading east. It was a lift to see Trish and Anthony and see what they have been working on.

Eleven riders, with a warning that Police would be targeting motorcyclists, traversed the scarp with a break at Mundaring Weir. JonO, Steve, Navigator Nick, R90S Mark, Mick S, Shiner Wright, Brian/5, AAA Anthony, Ted, Peter Bee and Bozo took it steady as they passed a rear facing camera on Mundaring Weir Road. Soon the group was lost in a loop on Forrest Street, Mount Helena, but emerged to familiar roads. The Domeites were making unusual gestures as we passed them at Mount Helena and headed on to Liberton and Mayo Roads for an intended loop on Dinsdale Road. A second speed camera was passed on Toodyay Road before we deviated on to Fernie and Salt Valley Roads. A ute with a plate compactor was shedding clouds of uncompacted soil as we headed onto Sandplain Road. Taking Folewood Road and River Road we turned off Julimar Road at West Coondle Road.

At this stage we were down to eight riders with one rider being given a low pressure warning in his front tire. The group pushed on on Dewars Pool Road before descending into a very quiet Bindoon Bakehaus. Navigator Nick discussed his trip to South Australia and his previous trip involving interaction with police and a run on the Mount Panorama racetrack.

We emerged to all be licence checked and registration checked by police in an unmarked Kia who were doing a 100% check on motorcycles and motorcyclists at the Bindoon Bakehaus.

Sedately we skylined the ridges behind Bindoon for a run through the Chittering Valley including Blue Plains Road and Powderbark Road. A new deviation from Polinelli Road was taken (Morley Road) before heading to Bullsbrook where the ride was meant to end. Most of the group were stopped in the Swan Valley for breath testing, drug testing, licence check and registration check. This was the second time within an hour to be checked. The police were friendly and efficient and Navigator Nick was not upset about the processing and the outcome of the multiple examinations.

An unusually intense day for interaction with speed cameras and police. It helped to have a mostly relaxed group during the multiple examinations.

Thanks to Peter Bee for running as Tail End Charlie and for a group that did not seem to worry about the ride leader getting lost.
