The BOM were correct there was rain but it did not hit me. Rode from home to GJ’s without wearing wet weather gear and no rain. Within 5 mins of arrival down it came and only stopped 55 mins later just prior to my departure, now suited up with wet weather gear, and that was it for the day! Amazing how suiting up can defer rain.
So only one sole dry rider at GJ’s, check numbers - yes one me. Bozo did arrive but a little later than his normal “just in time” engineering approach, and I assume he took the direct route to Mojos whilst I took the tourist route. So he was there as I pulled up adjacent to Mick on the stonking Triumph. Lefty arrived later to make 4 attendees with the temp around 14 degrees and sun shining through diminishing clouds.
There was the normal fighting and screaming over the destination but Mick and Lefty easily agreed with my choice of a shorter run, expecting showers, to Toodyay Bakery. So the 3 Amigos departed in the weak sunshine through Stoneville, Mt Helena, Chidlow, out to Toodyay Rd then Lover’s Lane, River Rd, Julimar, Coondle West, the Coondle Estate and the Toodyay to Bindi-Bindi Rd back to the Bakery in Toodyay. Temperature rising to 16 degrees and full sunshine. Sweet!
The Bakery top verandah was bathed in warming sunshine with minimal customers as we enjoyed the victuals. Much discussion about poor Nick with all sending best wishes for a speedy recovery.
As the weather was so good, it was wet weather gear off and a diversion proposed by Mick, to Jennacubbine Tavern, into Northam outskirts, across to York and the Talbots delivering us to The Lakes where the ride finished. Note sunshine, no rain, totally unexpected but damm well appreciated.
So 350km, and great company, thanks guys and special thanks to TEC Lefty who managed to keep Mick under control.
