We did…but only after tow starting it behind a support vehicle. Too much compression in the single cylinder thumper.

Hello Slackers,

Get ya Popcorn and get settled in!

Join this intrepid group from the Wanneroo Wanderers 4WD Club as they venture off the beaten track and tour Western Australia’s Outback. Within 24 hours of leaving their home destination, Perth, they witness absolute disaster as they are first on scene to what could have been a catastrophic accident which luckily, did not end with death or serious injury. From there they discover old ruins, sodden Outback tracks, isolated Squatters shacks, mechanical failures and several punctured tyres which threatened the outcome for all those concerned.

Grab ya gear; Lets go!

See you on the other side!

Hello Slackers,

I/We are fortunate to live in a Country that has many varied landscapes and been lucky enough to have travelled extensively throughout Australia over the last number of years. We are so blessed here in Oz to have this Country of ours to explore in any season and any time of the year. We have the beaches, the rain forest, the deserts, the snow and everything in between!

This Vid is a compilation of Drone footage of some of the Regions in Australia that I have been fortunate to explore both by motorcycle and 4 wheel drive.

Enjoy.
(Best watched in HD).

Hello Slackers,

Been home too long...goin' bush!

Myself and a small group from the Wanneroo Wanderers 4WD Club are going to do the Holland Track and have a look around the Woodlands and Cave Hill. Departure date is Thursday 21 Sep and return around 30 Sep.

InReach Tracker activated from the start point at Katanning from noon on Thursday.

You may want to click on the Link before departure date to familiarise yourself with some of its functionality. You may want to limit the date range to ‘most recent’ or ‘last 7 days’.

Thanks Steve. Obviously I will be working so hard at the office I just won't have time to watch or remember riding past the HT access and exit points a few weeks ago with the posse. Thankfully, you will furnish all us lurkers with another video showing lots of it - hopefully with less death and destruction than more recent vids of your trips. Just thinking aloud, I think Tourism WA should employ you the reach and information in those vids is terrific. The talent too is sometimes exceptional

Safe travels.

Hello Slackers,

Update - Holland Track 4WD Trip
End of Trip Summary

15 cars commenced the trip from the start of the Holland Track in Broomehill and have since completed it along its entire length. Some of the going has been pretty tough on vehicles and with it being a long weekend, we found the Track very busy and congested with like minded fools with the same idea.
Our numbers kept changing with Drivers hopping on and off as their work lives/needs to get back to Perth or continue further East constantly changed.

After the Holland Track we continued on the explore Caves Hill and Woodlines area of the Goldfields. The trip ended with a final bush camp at the Breakaways before the final push home.

See captions below.

Bush camp at Emu Rock.

Same, same.

Image
One bloke drive thru deep water and drowned his alternator. While bush camped at Mt Holland, a couple of blokes tried to remove the alternator to flush it out. They couldn’t remove it (no room) and dissembled it and repaired it in situ. They got him going again.

Image
One blokes fridge slide wasn’t latched properly and hit a tree. Bummer.

The chunk missing from the tree.

I would like to take this opportunity to recommend Slots Capital Casino - it's a very interesting place for entertainment. I tried playing without deposit and I really enjoyed it. You should try it too!

At the very beginning you drive on a very narrow road? Why didn't the builders of this road make it 2-3 metres wider? Or did it just get smaller over time?

We followed a track which was the original rail alignment for the old steam locos that operated in the Woodlines area of the Goldfields. That part of the track gave us no option but to ride ON the old alignment. It was only wide enough for the Rail Line hence why it is so narrow. We got of it as soon as we could...it was a bit harrowing.

In Training – Cycling South Australia’s Mawson Trail

G’Day Folks,

I’m currently doing some training to ‘test my systems’ around Lake Joondalup. The plan is to cycle the Mawson Trail, a 900km off road trail that stretches from the Flinders Ranges down to Adelaide. I’m using my son’s, Trevor, E Bike for the trip but currently training without the Battery (train hard; fight easy). The Battery is too big to ship by air so that has been freighted to Adelaide ready for collection.

G'Day Slackers,

Getting anxious…

I fly out of Perth tomorrow (Tuesday) and arrive in Adelaide. From there I’ll collect the bike battery on Wednesday and catch a bus the following day to Parachilna near the Flinders Ranges. With that done I will cycle to the Start Point of the Mawson Trail at Blinman and start riding south thru the Flinders from Friday.

InReach Satellite Tracker Link is here;

InReach activated from Thursday 2 November.

See you on the other side!

Hi Folks,
Update - Mawson Trail - End of Day 2
I spent a couple of days in Adelaide to orientate myself, collect the bike battery and head up to the start point. The last couple of days have been used to pace myself and find my rhythm. I could be off the grid for a couple of days.
See captions below.

Image
The E bike boxed up and ready to go. With the battery removed, it’s not much heavier than a conventional mountain bike and easy to push.

Image
Sydney has its Sydney Opera House and the Harbour Bridge. Adelaide has its big Steel Balls!

Image
The beauty of travelling with only one big bag is that no matter what you carry, it’s gotta be in there somewhere. Be it toothpaste, a spare tube, clean jocks or the bikes battery charger it has to be there.

Image
Waiting at Adelaide Central Bus Station for the mini bus and trailer to take me to Parachilna, a 7 hour trip. From there a 20 km ride to my destination for the night, Angorachina.

Image
Got to climb to 610 metres above sea level to Blinman, South Australia’s highest Town.

Image
The official start of the Mawson Trail at Blinman. Only 900 km to go!

Image
Blinman exists because of Copper discovered in the late 1800’s. Mine closed in 1918. I decided to take a Mine Tour (cause I’ve got time).

See you on the other side.

Update - Mawson Trail - End of Day 3

My introduction to the Mawson Trail has been tough…either that or I’m getting too old for this s*** lol.
The Ebike is good but it needs to be managed very closely. You only have a limited resource at your disposal and once the battery goes flat you are on your own. With that in mind I was very cautious doing the 64km from Alpana Farm Stay to Wilpena, a distance of 64km towing that trailer cross country. It didn’t go without incident.
See captions below.

Image
My first ‘real day’ on the Mawson Trail. A lot of distance to cover and some steep terrain. A profile of the terrain to get me to my destination; Wilpena.

Image
It’s Official. I am now in the Flinders Ranges National Park.

Image
The Mawson Trail is signposted but blink and you’ll miss the signs. You gotta rely on your gut instincts if you think you’ve missed a turn or going the wrong way.

Image
Razorback Lookout…one of the most photographed locations in the Flinders Ranges.

Image
The last 20km to Wilpena were challenging and tough going. Had to cross 50 (mostly dry) creek crossings with steep entry and exit points. Sometimes it didn’t go my way. At least I didn’t break a rib (this time).
