Record Sunday Ride

Post by Bozo »

With a cooler forecast there was a large turnout at the temporarily closed Catalano's with coffees being carried from the two cafes opposite.

A record crowd for an ordinary Sunday ride of 30 (29 riders and a pillion) took off inland. Shiner Wright, Goldie, His Royal Griceness, Raider, Rainer, Rod Rocket Peter, Allan, Paul, Glenn, Ralph, Fozzie, JonO, Clayton, Cameron, Steve + Jo, 3 Amps Nick, Mick S, R90S Mark, Tom, Rob, David P, Ted, Robert, Rick T, Peter Bee and Bozo took Kewdale Road and Abernathy Road to avoid the closed Grogan Road. A stop at Gingers was followed by the new section of road around Bullsbrook of Yarrimbah Drive. A dog leg to Bonita Road, Jenkins Road and Polinelli Road got us to Muchea East Road where a minor issue arose with a group refusing to accept a Harley Davidson as a corner mark. A run along the recently sealed Wandena Road and an excursion to Maddern South Road gave us a good run onto Blue Plains Road. The group were reunited by Julimar Road and it was a quick regather at Toodyay before a run down Katrine Road.

The Dome, suggested by David P, was a perfect location with great service and able to handle the 29 that arrived (another record for the largest ride destination group).

The run home started with a stop at the Northam Lookout and then a run on the Old Great Eastern Highway alignment. Coates Road had the start of roadworks as did Government Road. The ride ended at Mount Helena.

A very successful day with intelligent riding by the group, mostly high quality corner marking and brilliant work by Peter Bee as tail end Charlie.

A new venue discovered and very positive feedback from the group. Thank you David P for the suggestion.
