3 followed B/5 as we zigged and zagged from Ascot along the Tonkin to Dome Kelmscott where ultimately we had another 8 to total 12. The suggested destination of Brunswick Junction was supported by all so I had 7 riders follow me as we crossed under Metro Rail and headed South alongside the railway. We passed through some roadworks in Mundijong and Serpentine before rejoining the SWH and heading towards Pinjarra. A minor diversion to Burnside and Coolup Rd East Rds led us to Coolup Community Hall and our first break.
We travelled swiftly through the standard route of backroads to arrive in Harvey for a fuel replenish and took the SWH to head into the Hills at Mornington Rd utilising Martin and Sandlewood Rds to return to the SWH and glide into Brunswick Junction for  lunch at the Bakery. B/5 had missed Tom’s corner marking at Martin Rd due to a caravan blocking vision and enjoyed an extended journey along Mornington Rd. However he knew where we were going for lunch and quickly joined us at the Bakery.
Normal banter at lunch as we enjoyed the Bakery goodies.
The return journey utilised Partridge, Campbell, Mitchell, Bernie’s and Hope Rds to skirt onto Government Rd and rerun our earlier Southern route. All was well until our stop on Dorsett Rd in East Waroona where Tom’s airhead would not even turn over on restart. With an impacted spark plug it appeared combustion chamber component failure in the RHS cylinder. Later camera viewing showed a damaged valve seat. Not good. So B/5 and I stayed with Tom until the RAC tilt tray arrived to ferry him and the dead airhead home.
Thanks to all for a great ride, apart from Tom’s dilemma, with special thanks to B/5 for champion TEC duties. Mild weather and 440km so another magic Thursday tour.
