Long way round (to Quindanning)

Post by Bozo »

Three GS riders cut through the chill morning air to build up an appetite for the menu at the Pinjarra Bakery at Waroona (where else would you go for a quick blast). Wes, Swampy and Bozo took the opportunity for a 430 km precipitation free latte/pie expedition that included the Mornington Mills Road, Collie-Williams Road, Darkan Quindanning Road and Lower Hotham Road.

The temperature rose slightly as the group idled through a festive Pinjarra celebrating its live lighter festival, possibly due to the number of pies being consumed by the incongruous crowd unaware of the message of the event.

At Waroona after a sausage roll, pie, vanilla slice break, the trio stopped at the Bendigo Bank but it seemed all the stray $20 and $50 notes had been scooped up from the ATM blast.

On to Wokelup to turn towards the scarp for the brilliant rocking rolling riding Mornington Road through to Collie.

A fuel stop for the GS's (not the GSA) and then the winding road towards Williams. The Darkan Quindanning Road had only just been sealed and was also a pleasant ride through emerald green countryside.

The wood fires at the Old Quindanning Inne were very welcome as the temperature had dropped to 12 degrees and the sun was having a public holiday. The number 41 was briefly raised by Wes but Swampy did not take the bait. The return journey on the traffic free Lower Hotham Road was a joy.

For once Boddington was alive with over 40 cars competing in the Newmont Gold Boddington Rally.

Home via Albany Highway.

A great ride on excellent motorcycling roads.

Lets do it all again on Sunday.
