A very solid turn out on a stunning day at Diverso in Vic Park with a wide range of bikes and riders. Great to see Clayton down from Geraldton on an immaculate BMW 1200 RT and Sophie on her new orange purchase. Ted is extending his motorcycling life by a heart valve tune up.
13 riders and a pillion participated in the annual inspecting the isopogons undertaken in the vicinity of Wannamal and Udamung. Just John, Pete 2 volts, Navigator Nick, Sophie, Ted, JC, Andrew + Ellie, Steve N, Stubby, Cameron, Clayton, Wightman and Bozo took a Zoro route to Gingers by tracing a Z from Campersic Road to Haddrill Road to Connect with Connemara Drive and Cathedral Avenue. A few clumps of Leschenaultia and Coral Creeper were forgotten by the time we waited patiently for an underwhelming high wide load. Picture courtesy Wightman.
The Leschenaultia and Kangaroo Paws were more frequent as we processed along Polinelli Road and Powderbark Drive to rip along blue Plains Road and Chittering Valley Road to get to Bindoon.
The Bindoon Historical Vehicle Day was on and the attraction of fossil fuel burning antiques was too much for half the group. A much reduced mob started spotting orchids on Crest Hill Road - albeit only Cowslips before a solid showing of Leschenaultia on Moolabeenie Road. We stumbled on to a wildflower show at Wannamal and thanks to the generosity of Wightman and Steve N gained admittance to discover that one flower promoted by the ride leader as native was in fact a weed. Blue Sqill, Isopogons, Cowslips and Sun Dews were all spotted across the road. The highlight came at Mogumber where a patch of half a dozen Spider Orchids were sighted.
Cruising on via Yarwindah Brook Road through the butterflies, Bees and Canola we got to New Norcia for a drive past its 175 year history.
We stopped at Udamung for Hibertia, Sun Dews, Blue Squill and Milkmaids.
A brief delay behind another high wide load and we were into a packed Bindoon Bakery.
Another bike group led us through the Chittering Valley before we sidetracked and ended up at Bullsbrook.
A brilliant day out with stunning scenery and a sighting of the iconic spider orchid. Thanks to all the group for making the ride easy and to Wightman and Stubby for tail end Charlie duties.

Re: Inspecting the Isopogons
Thanks to Bozo aka Zoro (on Sundays only) for leading the ride.
After Wannamal I back tracked to Hay Plain Road (Udumung) and then a hot shot back to Bindoon down the highway for fuel.
After a top up, it was back through Chittering Valley then Julimar to Toodyay, Salt Valley Road and a quick dirt squirt along Ferni Road and onto Wundowie, Wooroloo, Chidlow and home to Sawyers Valley.
A great day to be riding, it seemed like every bike owner in Perth was out and about.
