5 at Gloria Jeans, 12 at Mojos, 8 on most of the ride and 7 at lunch. Digger very kindly paid for coffees and breakfasts at Mojos to entice us to assist him with the Rottnest Xmas Accommodation Lotto. Whilst 11 of the 12 of us were in 4000 plus in the ranking James was lucky enough to obtain a booking for Digger. So the minor effort for us was well and truely warranted.
I suggested a ride to Yerecoin which was accepted by all. So 7 riders followed me as we wound our way through Mundaring, Stoneville, Mt Helena, Chidlow, Wooroloo, Wundowie, Bakers Hill and Spencer’s Brook to arrive riverside in Northam for a toilet break. Minor delay in Northam as the sole airhead stalled on the main drag and lost neutral for a while whilst Tom coxed it to start.
Whilst the temperature was still a chilly 18 degrees the sun was shining as we departed Northam and headed directly to Goomalling and onto to Yerecoin. We received the usual warm welcome at Yerecoin Traders and sat under the front veranda and consumed the splendid food and drinks. Temperature was now a more pleasant 20 degrees, with no wind and brilliant sunshine.
The return trip was across to New Norcia for expensive fuel top ups, down into Bindoon and through the Chittering Valley to regain the GNH and access Roe Highway for the run home. 365km for me and home just after 3pm.
Thanks to all for assisting Digger with total success, joining me on a very pleasant ride and of course special thanks to B/5 for outstanding TEC duty.
