THURSDAY May 14th Mojos Mundaring

Post by brian/5 »

Leaving Ascot Gloria Jeans at 7:30am to head up to Mundaring. The usual departure from Mojo’s around 9:00 ish.
Depending on the weather and the general consensus we may go east to The Malley Tree, Corrigin

It was the usual group & ride up to Mojos with six riders, with one going directly. The guess not to don our wet weather gear proved correct with only a few light showers. The way up was via the Helena valley but using the middle option along Lukin Ave instead of Mills Rd

Expecting to have less rain inland PeterBee, 2VPete, Ralph and HRG-Chris decided to let B5 lead a ride to Corrigin. On departure several decided not to take risk and donned their waterproofs. The outward leg was via Sawyers Valley, Mt Helen, Liberton, Werribee, Hawke and then down Inkpen. A brief stop on Talbot W Road before carrying on. Midway down Talbot Rd a large kangaroo crossed in front of B5 then, shortly after PeterBee clipped a small wallaby or roo. Both survived with the BM only requiring the right riding light to be repointed. Highlighted the need to have a guardian for TEC. A brief stop on Beverley before heading up to Mawson, Dangin, then south to Kweda.

A refuelling stop at the roadhouse before a lunch stop at The Mallee Tree Café. Our last visit the place was crowed, this time we had the café to ourselves. We encountered only light showers so the riders with screens were almost dry however Chris without a screen complained of a slightly dampened mojo. With the warmth due to the fire in the café any dampness was dried by the time we departed. The homeward leg was via Quairading, York and The Lakes.

Thanks all for your company, it turned out a much better day than expected

Thanks for leading a great ride and dialling up damm good weather. Perfectly worded ride report and apart from kissing the wallaby it was easy as TEC.
