About 9 at Dome Vic Park and about 20 at Cats on a chilly but fine Autumn morning. With Bozo asleep in his sick bed I picked the short straw and won the lead role. 11 riders agreed with the decision to target the Pinjarra Bakery at Waroona as our lunch destination and followed me as we took the standard route onto Orrong Rd to head up the Scarp. The corner marking was working as we rode out of the suburbs through Lesmurdie, Pickering Brook, Canning Mills and descended the Scarp to arrive at Churchman Brook for our first stop. We proceeded along Waterwheel Rd down the Albany Hwy and passed Swampy’s house hitting the SWH, through Byford, taking Nettleton Rd to Jarrahdale.
The temperature had risen to 10 degrees with the weak sunshine bringing lots of other riders out. We passed Serpentine Dam and the Prison on Kingsbury Drive and descended down to the SWH again for the run to North Dandalup. A short stop to count numbers and off on Del Park Rd to Dwellingup and the fantastic Nangas.
We arrived at the Pinjarra Bakery in Waroona at about 12:15pm and although crowded we took possession of the outdoor table and enjoyed the tasty food and drinks. With the temperature rising to about 19 degrees the weak sunshine was very warming. Lots of the usual discussions to entertain us and relax in the sun.
The group split for the ride home with some taking the SWH directly home and the remaining 6 or so following we down Coronation to take the middle route to Pinjarra then the middle route to the Tonkin Hwy and home.
Thanks to all for joining me and young R69S Mark for brilliant TEC duties.
