About 8 degrees in Ascot but promise of a fine day which attracted a record number of 10 riders at Gloria Jeans. Unfortunately Lefty had some electrical system issues, which he finally traced to a faulty earth connection and managed to head home. The remaining 8 followed me as we did the usual backroad jaunt to Mojos in Mundaring with the temperature in Glen Forrest a chilly 3.5 degrees. Although fog was forecast it was clear apart from the sometimes blinding rising sun.
Another 5 riders joined us at Mojos with finally 9 riders following me as we headed out of Mundaring on a circuitous route to The Toodyay Bakery, which was the democratically decided destination out of at least a dozen suggestions, possibly but not.
The temperature was rising as we proceeded through the back blocks of Parkerville and proceeded down the Scarp on Toodyay Rd to run along the foothills and ascend the Scarp on Haddrill Rd to Brigadoon and into Gidgegannup on O’Brien Rd with our first stop at the Peter Brock Memorial.
Berry Rd provided access to Toodyay Rd, Fernie, Salt Valley, Sandplain and River Rds to access Julimar and Coondle W Rd, Coondle Drive and finally Toodyay Bindi Bindi Rd for the run into Toodyay at about 11:40am. We recognised the faces of Swampy, Vic and Fiery Ross on the Bakery balcony enjoying the warming sunshine so it was a BMWMCCWA takeover of the balcony as we consumed the tasty delights in warming sunshine.
Following the usual enjoyable banter some riders took Toodyay Rd home whilst the remaining 6 of us followed Ralph for a very pleasant Julimar, Chittering Valley run home with the ride finishing at the small car park at the Smith Rd junction prior to the run down Yarrimbah Dr to the GNH and home.
Thanks to all for excellent corner marking and special thanks to Mick for TEC duties and Ralph for leading us home.
