Myself and a couple of other Club Members decided to head South for a change to see some different terrain and vegetation instead of the red dirt and dust of the Outback or the Goldfields, which is our usual destination. I'm not sorry I did. What a great insight as to what the South West has to offer.

We made our way down following a modified version of the MundAl, a 4WD track starting at Mundaring and finishing at Albany. Our first destination was Manjimup, which we used as a base to operate from.
Within the first two hours, Pete had a rear puncture on his KTM. Bummer! We swapped out the tube and were back on the road within the hour.
The MundAl highlights a lot of the local points of interest. In this case, the No 16 POW Camp at Marrinup, which housed Italian and German POW's from WWII who were put to work helping the local community.
We checked in with some locals at Manjimup who suggested bush camping at the 'old church' site. What a gem! St Mark Anglican Church was built in 1883 as a community centre/school room; it was consecrated in 1955 and is still used to this day for church services.
By coincidence, we were in Manjimup for the opening ceremony of Stages 1 and 2 of the Adventure Bike Routes put together by the Manjimup Trail Bike Hub. The Route (Towering Trees) is 220km long and takes in all the best tracks and tall timber country that the SW has to offer. Highly recommended!
We were even invited to attend the Ceremony to give them some street cred.
Our return journey had us pass thru the old timber town of Donnerly River, complete with native wildlife.
