Rider Training, Rental Bike

Post by Strekkie »

Hi all,

It had to happen. After many years of riding and picking up bad habits  I had to go and do my Practical Assessment this morning just to fail it miserably  because I could not make a U-turn in a double lane street.

At the end of the assessment the instructor told me that I had two options, either practice, practice and more practice until I can make a U-turn or get a smaller bike (I have a R1200RT).

I have lost two of my biker buddies  over the years while they were doing U-turns and therefore I have a thing against doing it but it is a requirement to pass the assessment.

Is there anybody out there that can guide me to where I can rent a smaller bike to use for practice and eventually for the license (which is only on the 16th of June unless I can get an earlier appointment).

After the assessment I went back to the same street and even though I know it is possible to do with the RT I sort of pushed the bike around two U-turns and it was very tight. I am also not willing to practise with the RT, fall and damage the bike. A smaller bike will have to do.

Can anyone please help.

Regards

Jan

Hi Kev,

I will give you a call later today.

I'm a bit embarrassed  about not getting the license but I’m sure that a lot of the bigger bikes will also struggle with that U-turn and I have fortunately never claimed to be the best biker in the world.

Till later
