1st November - BLESS

Post by KenButler »

I'm looking for riders and family members to come and join me and a few others at the Bike Lovers Expo Safety Sunday - BLESS. The plan is that the club sets up a stand and we get a few members to place their bikes at the stand to gather interest. Additionally Tom is going to have a table set up selling a few of our T shirts and other things; I'm hoping to have a photos going through a PC monitor and other club information. Anyone got good photos??

It would be great to have a few different bikes, RT, Sport, GS, LT, etc. Perhaps and oldie bike - Mike, John??.

I'll post more information as the event gets closer. For now just consider coming along and enjoying the morning - note the date 1/11/09.

It should be a great day, Come and join us. :P

jesse is trying to get there with his new beast, I'm sure a few of you have seen the photos. Should kick it over this weekend - if not metaphorically it will happen physically I reckon.

I'll be buying a marque for the club later in the week. It's to be used at BLESS and any future events. At the last meeting someone sugested that they had one which we could buy on the cheap!!!! Does anyone know who that was, I'm bad with names, does anyone know who that was.

The plan for BLESS is that I'll go over early Sunday morning and set up up the marque, hang the BMW flag, set up a table with a notebook and a monitor and show photos from Ben's recent ride and anyone else's if they bring them along. Eric is to lend his small generator to supply power. Tom is to bring along a few T shirts for sale. Toni is to have a few entry forms.

Lefty is to gather the troops from the Farrell's Sunday breakfast and bring them over to the gathering after breakfast. It should be a good time. If you have nothing planned bring your bike and join us.

Ken
Before you go buying a marque, Anaconda has listed a clearance sale on a Spinifex Easy Shade 300x300x330 Gazebo on sale for $179 down from the normal price of $359
They also have a Coleman event sunshade which I think would better suit our club needs than a marquee it sells for $199 and its dimensions are 426x426x223

I think we should try and get a couple of GS' on display all packed up as if on an outback trip, complete with a bit of mud and dust if possible (street cred ..where's Ben?)

Also if it helps I have a 12v 10 inch LCD DVD Player that could be hooked up to the bikes power supply and set up to cycle though images and video of various trips.

Cheers

Hello Ken,

Caversham is not far from home, I can come straight there and bring a few chairs and help set up, what time are you planning to get there?

Toni, Tom and I are planning on getting there at about 7:45. We'll be bring buns and coffee making equipment, so come and join us for a light breakfast, if you like. :P

I'm starting to think that it could be a good gathering. Ben is coming and bring his informace F800 with photos from some of his adventures. So I now know of and R1200RT, R1100R, R100GS, R80GS, F800GS - we starting to get some varity which is good. We bought the shelter and will set it up along with set up a small tent to make it look like a camping weekend (we can store stuff in the tent)

If anyone else wants to pop past, bring your own bun!

Hope you all had a good day and the event was a success. It was 46 deg here today and I would have preferred to have been sitting in the club marquee with a beer.

Noel, the marquee is great. The beer was non-existent (a dry event). That said, we had a great turn out of members and a few of us rode up to the Mundaring Weir Hotel to finish off a really great sunny day.

For those that missed BLESS, I've attached a link to some photos.

The day was good because we got so many BMW riders together however it was a bit of a flop as the organisers hadn't planned any events - apart from the blessing and food. By the time the blessing happened most of the bikes were gone.

Next year I'll bring some witches hats and we'll have our own competitions. Smallest cycle, smallest figure 8, through the witches hats, etc. I think that we should make it for bikes over 1000 CCs that way my wife wouldn't beat me and obviously hopefully no Harley

In the photos you'll see Lefty doing an interview, Lefty singing with the band, the new marque and of course BMW bikes
