Avon Storm Tyres on a K1200LT

Post by DFS »

For those of you with a K1200 LT don't fit Avon Storms, despite them being listed by Avon for the bike. I put a set on my UK LT about 4,000 kms. ago.
The front tyre shook the handlebars from new bellow 55 kms/hr although was OK above that. Now it has gone out of shape with one patch the size of a 50c piece gone through to the canvas, the rest of the tyre has about 3mm tread and the rear almost looking unused.

Apparently these have been withdrawn from the German Market by tyre dealers on safety grounds.

My tyre dealer has taken this very seriously, now I have to wait for a response from Avon.

Yes, very hard in the middle, giving very long life, progressively softer towards the edges, where contact is rare but you need more grip. (or so they claim)
