My bike insurance is due shortly and I am looking at options available for nect year.
I was wondering where other club members are insuring their bikes. Does the club have any arrangments with any insurers for a club discount?
My bike: F 800 GS; 12,000 km pa;
My current insurance is with BMW [actually provided by Allianz] for $640 pa. Rating 1; Excess $500; $400 riding gear
I have also had quotes from based on Rating 1:
QBE - $385[500 excess]
eBike insurance - $868 [$900 excess; includes 24 hour a day 7 day a week breakdown assistance]
insuremyride.com.au - $600 [$400 excess]
RAC: $1,278
Shannon's - can't get, bike has to be kept in locked garage - mine is only in the locked garage in winter for 6 months
I will appreciate any advice of good value, good service and good sense....
Cheers

Bike Insurance - Any suggestions

Check with Swann they may be able to come up with a reasonable figure.

Not a lot of experience but QBE have done the right thing by me when I wrote my K off last year AND insured my next bike GS without any problems. There is an additional $500 XS if the bike isn't garaged, (obviously excluding trips)

QBE _ best price plus they cover up to $3000 to replace your protective gear if its gets damaged. When I had to make a claim with another insurer who didnt do this, it cost me over $2000 to replace my helmet, jacket, boots, gloves. Also, this insurer (Arista) were a real pain in the bum to deal with - took months to settle the claim - DO NOT recomend them. Have used QBE since then and am happy with their cover and price.

InsureMyRide. $457 per year with $500 excess. I did not bother about covering gear or personal valuables. That cover is for 'limited use', garaged, and no modifications to bike.

QBE are good. Have had two claims, I was without fault both times, both resolved without hassle, even got my excess back eventually on the first claim.

Yep QBE, 2 claims, both no problems, just sent pics to assessor, Paid up, and cheaper than the rest, Try Shannons if you want a good laugh

Koos good to see that you live.
I have had three different insurance coy's in last 3 years
QBE, ebike and currently Shannons.
I left QBE following never making a claim but found my annual premium was rising each year.
While I was with ebike I did make a no fault claim and just sent the piccies in and after a little mucking around the clam went smoothly. I left them and went to Shannons on an occasional use basis and parked in a locked garage. The interesting thing about this occasional use concept is that you can take the bike out of the garage ride it around Australia and park it back in the garage and that is classed as occasional use. They dislike the daily commuting caper. The main thing that tipped me in favour of Shannons (because their quote came in only very slightly lower than ebike) was that you can pay the annual premium on a monthly basis and there is no additional charge for this service i.e. no interest.
Hope this helps your decision making process.
Cheers

Re: Bike Insurance - Any suggestions
Thank you everyone for your advice and comments.
I have gone with QBE - $385 [500 excess], monthly payments, $2,000 riding gear [+$2,000 for pillion], $30 million public liability [BMW / Alliance $20m], same other benefits as BMW [rental car, accomodation, bike transport, trailer damage etc.].
BMW / Alliance premium was $640 for essentially the same coverage.
Worth a good laugh....SGIO came in at $3,025!
Cheers
