Sorry, no we won't.
When the committee starts thinking about trying to get all members or trying to make it available so all members can attend. Maybe the club will return to a club that all members want to attend and not just a selected few.

I'm in. It was great last time. Good venue and camping facilities were good too. That winery tasting was also bonus value. Bolton

I'm so excited, I'm virtually trembling. I hope that JP and Denise will be able to rustle up some sort of a quiz, as my brain has gone into hibernation. John

Put me down for 2. To answer your question (Koos) on accomodation, it is a bit awkward there with some places wanting a minimum of 2 nights booking.
I've just taken one half of a cottage down there at the Tea Rooms for $100. They do have some other options as well.

Having not been down to this spot before, where is the accommodation in relation to Maleeyas' ?
Lu and I are keen, but not really interested in camping, or having a long commute to get back to wherever.
Any advice appreciated.
Cheers,
Gav.

HI Gav

The caravan park had some nice chalets from memory.

Last time Swampy was kind enough to run a shuttle service, not sure if that will be happening this year.

All the best

Hi All,
Just back from 2 weeks away in our magnificient South west with my wife and we were lucky enough to be able to stay at the "Sleeping Lady" retreat in the Perogerups a 10 minute drive from Malyeeya's where we celebrated our combined birthdays with a lovely meal.
Anyone taking a loved one or willing to share accomodation with another couple on your trip to the Clubs Xmas party would find no better a place to stay.

We stayed 2 days and wished we could have stayed another week soaking up the silence of the bush and sitting on the verandah overlooking vineyards with views to the Stirling Ranges in the distance and the scene where the Sleeping Lady takes it's name from.

The accomodation is fully self contained and I mean "Fully Self Contained". Just supply your food and favourite beverages and relax in total comfort.

It has 2 bedrooms, The main with a Queen sized bed and the 2nd bedroom with 2 singles.

The beds have electric blanketrs for cooler nights.

The building is Air Conditioned and if you wish to utilise it a prepared Wood Fire Place waiting for you to touch a light to.

The lounge is tastefully furnished as is the lovely kitchen. WARNING!! Do Not Sit on the lounge if you wish to remain awake longer then 5 minutes.

The room has a Satelite TV, DVD player and streo. There is also a a big range of books and dvd"s for your use as required.

The other room has a large shower, toilet and a washing machine.

A verandah runs the length of the front of the building and has a Gas BBQ and table and chairs for you to sit on and enjoy the fantastic views to the Stirlings with a glass of wine and a ood book.

Come on guys SPOIL your better half and give her a well deserved treat and spend a couple of days here.

Nichola who owns and runs the 5 acre property is a wonderful, friendly woman who will I assure you take care of you and explain all there is you want to know to make the most of your stay.

A kilometre down the road is "Castle Rock" with a fantastic walkway built around the rim of the outside of a cliff, again with terrific viewsover the surrounding countryside.

For your information, NO I have not been paid or otherwise renumerated to put this blog on our forum.

Also I will not be attending this years function having just returned from their and enjoying all it has to offer.

Enjoy yourselves and travel safe

Swampy

PS. Well done Ahab as well on the victory of the All Blacks over Australia. 8)

Just to re-iterate as people have been asking....
Also those that have indicated they are coming on this forum MUST REGISTER on the private forum to get a booking at the restaurant. I notice there are many people who have indicated here they want to come but aren't registered. Keep in mind that there are only room for 40 people at this popular venue. DUKES winery is putting on a tasting before the dinner. :P

Jono will you be putting a registration up for people to put their names down on the private members only forum site so we know numbers going........

I rang my mate Duke at Dukes winery and he will put on a tasting like he did last time. He wants us there at 5pm which gives us an hour and a half of tasting. His winery is within walking distance from Maleeyas . Members who attended last time will recall the great high quality wines he produces and he will organise sending purchases you make to your home.
He said a few guys could put up tents out the back like last time but you have to ring him to let him know as he doesn't want too many taking up the offer. 0898531107

I had booked the Sleeping Lady Retreat some months ago, (thanks Noel) before the club had decided to use Maleeyas again for the Christmas function. As a result I am locked into an unbreakable promise, wifes birthday, so will not be at Maleeyas on the Saturday night. We would like to attend the wine tasting at Dukes and have a chat though.

I hope you all enjoy a safe journey to and from the Perongerups wether it be by road, dirt and/or by tintop and have a great afternoon at "Kings" and a wonderful evening at Maleeyas.

I will see some of you the following weekend at Cat's no doubt.

Swampy.

PS. Will someone be kind enough to pick up my Christmas "Pressie" from Santa for me too please?

For all those heading down to Maleeya's. The camping ground opposite the national park does not require bookings just arrive, set up and the settle with the office. There is a great campground lounge and kitchen with plenty of room, chairs and a wood fire place, evenings are a chilly 11 degrees so take some warm kit.
Only those staying at the park can use the facility (understandable) but if you are still undecided I can highly recommend it, its a great spot.
Dinner at Maleeya's starts early 6:30 but also winds up early 10pm, its also BYO, you can buy wine at Dukes but beer etc you need to source on your way down. Don't forget your Port for the fireside at the camp ground.

Its 6km due East on the same road from Maleeya's to the Porongurup Range Tourist Park.

Just be mindful of the potential for bushfires on the way down to the annual dinner. The following link can be useful to check for fires in the region you may be travelling through.
