Nice use of the ground sheet ,must of been windy by the size of the tie down rocks
Wanker...have a look around. Does it look like I'm at Bunnings. There wasn't a lot to choose from.

Good to see Digger is Rocking and Rolling again after doing some tourist stuff in Toowoomba involving table tops and picnics.

I will refrain from gibberish about rocks in case I aggregate a grizzly reaction and go too far down the Bunnings washed stones aisle.

Currently at Killarney and will camp here tonight (Friday) and will go to Murwillumbah (via Nibim to see what all the fuss is about) for a final camp on Saturday before registration on Sunday afternoon.

Can I get an 'Amen' to that Brothers and Sisters. Hallelujah.

Great roads and great scenery today. Reminded me so much of Tassie. If nothing else, attending the Safaris gets me off the couch and allows me to see more of this great country. I didn't take the most direct route to the Gold Coast but then again, why would you?

Visited the Feral Capital of Australia today...never been there before (Nimbin). Interesting place...spent some time chillin' with my brothers and sisters there. Very creative bunch...could be something in the water they drink; or maybe not.

Mount Warning in the distant background. It is the first part of the Australian mainland that sees daylight each day. It is a 6 hour return climb to the top. Maybe some other day.

Tomorrow (Sunday) is registration and then the fun begins the following day. We stay overnight in Tenterfield, Toowoomba, Kingaroy, Rainbow Beach and finally Noosa on Friday evening.

I thought of that...you would've seen some spectacular country also while on your trip. You must agree...so much too do; so little time. Mind you, the 'twisties' I did today may not have been so exciting on a postie bike.

The view from my room on the 14th floor of Jupiters Hotel...a little different than the view from my tent on the way over. The Welcome Dinner was held in the Convention Centre located in the foreground. You pay a hefty premium to attend the events but generally (in most cases) you get what you paid for.

Image
One of the small taverns/pubs that are used for 'lunch' options along the way. Typically, they use back roads and out of the way places which must be a win fall for local traders. Some Riders mentioned they had to wait an hour for their meal. It pays to pack tuna and biscuits (my Doctor told me to eat more fish anyway).

If you have to stay at Tenterfield, you may as well get the Tenterfield experience. The curtains at this Motel were recycled from Peter Allens shirts (only joking). The following day, I couldn't get a song outta my head...Whoa When My Baby.

Image
One of the early casualties being unloaded...the Rider laid the bike over twice. Once on each side. The rocker cover was leaking on one side and my guess is that his Safari is over. It got worse day by day for busted bikes.

The view from my office window most mornings...dust is a real problem on this ride. You hang back to stay outta the dust but impatient riders overtake you and so you end up in the dust even more.

Image
This rider overcooked the corner and ended up here...his eyes would've been the size of dinner plates once he realised he had nowhere to go. It was a little difficult to extract the bike from its final resting point and took a few blokes to assist.

Today (Wednesday) has been challenging...this was one of two hills we had to climb which caused a bit of angst amongst some riders. If a rider went down, it would take at least 4 blokes to assist to get him mobile again. The track was closed later in the afternoon due to time contstraints.

Image
The backlog queuing up while the second hill is cleared of debris and calateral damage. I waited for 45 minutes while the track was being cleared.

This is a prototype of a GS Lowrider being trialled. Actually, it is the result of hitting a wash away at speed and punching out the rear shock absorber lower mount and breaking it off on the swing arm. There were two like this within metres of each other after hitting the same wash away. Their Safari is over also.

If you going to the Camp Cook Off...have fun.

Great photos and sounds like it is another great experience, I'm jealous.

Stay safe and think of us slaving over hot fires at the Cook off this weekend, whilst you are touring the east coast :)

Oh dear! I think the loads exhibited in photo 2 (cause) are the result of the failure in photo 3 (effect).
