An introduction and a request for assistance please

Post by John C »

Hi Folks,

As I’ve just joined the club I thought it would be polite to say hello ... “Hello”

I’m one of those ubiquitous pommy types, though I do try to keep the whinging to a minimum. Also, I’ve spent the last three and a bit years living in New Zealand, but please don’t hold either of those points against me, I am a decent bloke, honest.

Unfortunately circumstances in NZ have dictated that I need to put some cash in the bank, so I now find myself living and working in Perth.

Bike wise, I’ve left an R 1150 GS and an R 80 GS parked up in a mate’s garage in New Zealand, and I’ve been itching to find a bike across here so that I can start to do some exploring. My first choice would have been to go for another GS of some flavour but the availability of bikes and cash have meant that it’s not possible at this stage.

However, I have just found myself a little scoot, and that’s where I could do with a hand. Specifically, I’ve managed to secure the R65 that was listed in the classified section, and I could do with some assistance to get the bike from its current resting place in Willetton back to my place in West Leederville.

Obviously I can just hire a trailer to collect the old girl, and if no offers are forthcoming that’s what I’ll do. However, I figured I might as well ask the question and see if anybody in the club has a trailer that I could borrow, or if anybody fancies a Saturday afternoon kicking tyres and talking bikes whilst the other half is at the shops I’d welcome the company.

Ideally I’d like to get the bike moved as quickly as possible, preferably Saturday (03/04), so that I can start making a shopping list so that I can get her back on the road ASAP, and unfortunately I’ve got other commitments on Sunday.

Anyway, cheers for now, and hopefully I’ll see you at the tech days or for breckie on Sunday once she’s mobile again.

Cheers

John

Noel,

Just a quick note to say thanks for the assistance on Saturday.

I definitely owe you a coffee or two on one of the sunday morning runs.

I've managed to get the wheels and the most of the front end of the old girl, so now the fun starts with the hunt for suitable repair replacement or "upgarde" options. If anybody's got any bits of an R65 lying about in the shed, give me a shout, and we'll see if swap them for beer tokens

Cheers

John
