Bozo wrote:Had an interesting stand off with a massive bull early Sunday morning. Throughout the trip there had been lots of cattle on the roads....from Carnarvon to Gascoyne Junction there were over a hundred, typically in groups of five to ten either on or just off the road. You would slow down, they would give you a curious look and trot off. I had left Gascoyne Junction at sunrise and was heading south east towards Murchison when I came across a huge bull just standing on the gravel road. I pulled up to a stop a few metres away and waited for him to move. He turned towards me and lowered his head....it was at this point I realised that I was on a red bike with a red jacket and that my GS was no matador cape easily able to be flicked to one side. I accelerated past him, hoping that I would not have to lodge my third insurance claim in a month, passing within a metre of him, thinking that it might have been smarter to have waited for Dinga and Guy and been in a more intimidating group Bozo

Bill, he was a big drought master bull...the sandy coloured ones with the hump. I had seen one in action at the Timber Creek Rodeo and knew what he could do to me and my bike.

Most cattle were quite placid like this Bidgemia cow photographed in the 4 kilometre long "holding paddock".

The signs for the 26th Parallel on the Carnarvon - Mullewa Road are not quite as flash as on the highway

But there is a lot of interesting heritage along the way

The other end of Butcher's Track just north of Murchison Settlement is not identified with that name just a distance to the North West Highway

Hamelin Bay is an interesting diversion.

A telegraph station was built in the 1880's as part of a link to the Pilbara.

A pole with an eagles nest remains

Happy to have a bit of chunky tread on the tyres on the sandy freshly graded Bibbawarra Bore Road north of Carnarvon

I need to make a correction to this post.

I was informed that the Mundaring Dinner that what I wrote was a lot of bull

Cattle are colour blind so the colour of my bike and clothing were not the problem.

It is OK to buy a red BMW and travel through cattle country

May be it was the noise of the Mitas EO7's that was irritating the bull

Bozo, not sure about the credibility of the scientist that I was quoting, might pay to do more research.

My Photobucket hosted photos seem to have reappeared despite me not paying them. They just have a hosted by Photobucket watermark.

Mine to...great for those lurkers looking at old Threads who get to see the whole experience including the photos. I wonder why Photobucket had a change of heart.
Bozo...have you tried to revisit your old Photobucket account?

I had to do a verification email link to get other than a pay option. It then logged me into my account.

It seems all my 362 photos are still in my library.

I think Photobucket learnt some business lessons. The image over photos should have been the first option for free accounts - marketing and convert some to paid accounts. Instead they went the aggressive / piss off / big stick approach first. Lost more customers than they will ever get back never mind convert to paid.

Ouch
