The spokes were tensioned on the first service on my GS. I was told it was a precaution as a wheel was damaged by lose spokes

Hi Goldie,
Yes a wheel was a major problem for a particular R1200GS with fellow club BMW rider. Speak to Ross H who had the rear wheel replaced under warranty from Autoclassic recently.
