Paul Keller (German Paul)
It is with a very sad heart that I have to inform you of the passing of Life Member "German" Paul Keller yesterday morning.
I was concerned for his welfare after not seeing him at Catalano's for quite a period of time and knowing he was not in the best of health that I attempted to contact him this afternoon to check on his welfare.
It quite a shock to get a reply from his son Mathias and his wife Cheiko a short time ago informing me that Paul passed away yesterday morning after being unwell for some time.
The BMWMCCWA. was a large part of Paul's life and his son mentioned this to me in his message. Those of us who knew Paul will remember him fondly as a character in this great club and I know his passing will be a great loss!!

Sorry to hear the sad news. Paul was regular on the Sunday rides participating in over 30 in the last two years and hundreds in the last decade. He enjoyed the banter at the ride breaks and contributed with his own unique sense of humour. Always impatient to leave on a ride, he enjoyed the open road. He will be missed.

Re: Paul Keller (German Paul)
All,
Paul loved his riding. He was a very big fan of the K1200RS. Paul had a red one. Back a few years ago the Border Run was a big club event. Everyone would load the bikes with kit and head off early on a Friday morning in the pre-dawn cold… Paul too but on this occasion with just a small clear plastic lunch box carefully wrapped in a little towel and strapped to the seat. A grin from ear-to-ear at every fuel stop! I can still see him tucked behind the fairing out on the Nullarbor east of Cocklebiddy - the little lunch box riding shotgun...
A few years later Paul discovered a fairly well used R1100 GS with a white (ish) tank. He wasn’t keen on the dirt. Finally I convinced him to join me on a ride down to Peaceful Bay for an Albany Club event. It was one of those back road and rutted-track with sand-thrown-in-for-good-measure rides… You know. An all day affair with a lot of dust - Paul following in it. We arrived late afternoon to a welcoming Albany crowd, pulled-up and I went to shake Paul’s hand after a terrific day in the saddle. There was that ubiquitous ear-to-ear grin but on this occasion the grin was from behind a thick mask of red dust!
More recently Paul and I occasionally crossed paths on the Mundaring Weir Road - a knowing wave saying it all…
Thank you for the memories Paul.

Thanks Swampy for taking the time to check up on him. I thought he had gone back to Europe! That is truly sad news. We went on some great rides together including the Border Run. He was the real deal, great friend and motorcyclist to the core. Thoughts go to the family. Kenny

Re: Paul Keller (German Paul)
I have messaged Paul's family this morning enquiring about his Funeral details and asked if they were conducting a private service or not
So far no answer but if and when I get one I will post on this Forum.
