Great Central Road motorcycle rider deaths...

Post by Raider »

Greetings,

Anyone have any details on the two riders who perished near Warakurna / Docker River on the Great Central Road earlier this week? Anything on the large group of riders they were amongst?

A double tragedy.

Thanks,

Raider

Greetings,

I have been looking at the media information as to the locations of the accidents.

By my reckoning of this information the first accident occurred near to the Gunbarrel Highway turn-off and the second accident occurred just east of Sandy Bligh Junction. The first to the west of Warakurna and the second to the east of Warakurna. Crickey.

Over the years that I have traversed the Great Central Road this is the section that has proved to be the roughest with corrugations and loose stony surfaces as well as sand sections.

Regards,

In The West...

"Dirk Fielding and his sons Sam and Ben were among the group of 13 riders from Victoria and Queensland travelling across Australia from WA’s Steep Point to Byron Bay in New South Wales when two of their mates crashed less than 200 kilometres apart along the Great Central Road."
