The hot weather did not stop the dedicated! I arrived at 6:55am at Shell Ascot to find Brian, Nick, Steve and Ross enjoying coffees, talk about eager. Ross, from Parkerville had come down to Ascot to join us to travel back to the Parkerville Tavern, how keen can you get.
We went the back way through Helena Valley, Boya and Darlington to cross over the busy GEH to get to Park Rd to enter John Forrest NP and soon arrived at Parkerville Tavern. One rider there, Swampy on Big Red. What a pleasant addition to the gang.
The now six diehards headed through the 5 acre back lots of Parkerville, out onto Toodyay Rd and headed West to get onto Campersic, Haddrill and Weir Rds up the Scarp into Brigadoon. A few dead end turns allowed us to see new houses in various stages of construction, but we finally weaved our way onto Connemara Drive and Lancewood Rd to hit O’Brien Rd. We took a 5 minute break at the hallowed Peter Brock Memorial and waved to a GS rider who glided past and looked vaguely familiar. The rider returned and it was Emperor Eddy out on a solo pleasure ride. Another pleasant addition to the gang.
The now seven diehards took Copley-Dale, Clenton and Berry Rds to get back onto Toodyay Rd. Mayo, Needham and Liberton Rds had us motoring into Chidlow back onto the GEH and to Dome Mundaring our planned brunch stop.
Coffees, smoothies, cakes, toasted sandwiches and big biscuits were consumed as we sat outside in pleasant high twenties/low thirties heat. As usual there was much chat about “nothing”.
We parted company here each finding their own way home. Back home by 11:30am before the high thirties.
Thanks to all for coming out on a hotty, with special thanks to Brian and Swampy for TEC duties.

Of rugged mountain ranges, of droughts and flooding rains.
I love her far horizons, I love her jeweled sea.
Her beauty and her terror, the wide brown land for me."
