A cooler day attracted Wes, Dave, Chris, Nick, Brian and myself to breakfast and/or coffee at Mundaring Dome for our last Thursday ride this year. With Dave and Chris not coming on the ride it was left to the remaining 4 to democratically decide to target Toodyay Bakery for lunch.
We decided to surprise Ross at home in Parkerville to offer verbal advice with his landscaping. But we spent more time talking with his brick laying contractor about BMW’s GS/A appropriateness for vertically challenged people. The consensus was a GS with a lowered seat was the suitable weapon.
Soon the mighty four were heading through Parkerville to O’Brien Rd and Lancewood Ave to wind our way into Brigadoon and down the steep Weir and Haddrill Rds to get onto the GNH and head via Bullsbrook into the Chittering Valley. A quick stop at the junction of Chittering and Julimar Rds allowed us to witness a young lady from Chittering Library exchanging books in the Little Free Library located in the seat of a wooden two seater bench. What a fantastic idea for the locals.
Julimar Rd was negotiated with a minor detour onto Timberden Drive before positioning ourselves on the upstairs veranda of Toodyay Bakery to enjoy a variety of pies and rolls and view the passing parade below us. The weather to then had been a few spots of rain with low twenties temperature. But as we concluded our lunch wind driven rain soon had the roads awash and the locals running.
Brian’s comment of waiting a few minutes for the rain to stop initially worked as we left Toodyay via Julimar, River, Sandplain, Salt Valley and Fergie Rds to get onto Toodyay Rd and head to Perth. The rain showers soon set in until we stopped at the top of the scarp to go our separate ways. Fine weather and mid twenty temperatures made it then a pleasant ride home.
Thanks to all for an enjoyable ride on a cooler Summer day and a special thanks to Brian for TEC duties.
A quick review of the years Thursday rides resulted in an average of 4 to 5 riders with a max of 10 and min of 1. A special thanks to Swampy for initiating the rides and hopefully for his future 2020 attendance following his cessation of the dreaded work. Personally I have enjoyed the rides and the rewarding interaction with like minded BMWers. Locking forward to more great rides in 2020.

It was a good day out with sun, rain, coffee, banana bread, bees and some nice roads to boot, a good way to finish 2019 Thursdays. Many thanks to Peter for his organising. <thumbs up>
