Re: Camp "Cook-Off" Round 2: 4-5 Sep 2010
The location has been decided!
Wyening Railway Dam.
Travel north from Bolgart on the Toodyay Miling road until Wyening (11.37km).
Turn right onto gravel track and proceed to T junction (0.55km) and turn left.
Continue straight ahead until the railway crossing (2.14km) and then turn right immediately over the rail way crossing and follow gravel track along east side of railway track. When you reach the end of the bush (0.54km) approaching the farm paddock turn left and follow the gravel track straight, cross over the creek and then start looking for a camp (0.49km) area below the dam.
Lat 31° 9'53.73"S
Long 116°29'49.21"E
If you take a look at google maps/google earth you'll find this quite easily.
There is plenty of firewood, dam water, no toilets or other facilities - this is a bush camp. If the rains persist through August then there may even be a small water crossing to get to the camp!
See you there.

Re: Camp "Cook-Off" Round 2: 4-5 Sep 2010
Our Sunday morning haunt, Catalano's, have come through with the donation of a prize. I'm thinking it might go to the "chook bucket" winner - whoever that is might be in need of a decent meal!
Say thanks to Dom and his team when you're next in there. Try their lunches - the meals are HUGE.
btw, various members of Dom's family are all riders - perhaps we just need to convince them to change brands.....
Hmmm, so do I aim for the best dish for new tyre, or the worst for a real meal?

So have bullied the goose to come along on this one. A possible "dark horse" winner with her deadly spring rolls. I'm not so concerned about the blackened pots so much as the bird poop and bottlebrush twigs falling into my port glass.

Of course the question is .... will Tom do better than last years "Devil Sausages". I hope not, as it will ensure that I wont lose. Let's not forget who lost last year - Tom

Bloody hell you must have some prep to do for your dinner, needing to go up the day before.
or do you want to secure a place as head taste tester.

Hey Bully
With leaving Friday I can pick up the prize for the longest distance travelled.
Also have to dig a hole for the hangi, gather the hangi stones, shoot a wild pig,gut the beast, grow the vegetables.
So as you can see, I may have to leave Thursday now.
Just thinking maybe if I forget the pig and just pick up some road kill skippy, that would save some time.
