You may or may not know that there is a set of special tool needed to check and align the cams on the LC.
I have made 2 of the tools. the TDC aligner and the Cam Chain Tensioner.
I would like to borrow the cam alignment tool so that I can make a copy.
If that's not an option I will take the cam cover off and take the measurements I need, but having the tool in hand is preferred.
Went and saw mister BMW this morning and the Alignment tool is only $42 ex Germany so I have one on the way, should be about 6 weeks.
The real expensive tools are the tensioner and TDC finder lock and I have made them already.

Re: Cam Alignment Tool LC
Now that Australia is in practical lockdown the arrival of the cam alignment tool within the next 2 weeks is unlikely.
Yesterday I decided I would check my valve clearances and take measurements so that I could make a cam alignment tool.
Measurements taken and tool made, checked left side cam alignment OK.
Left side valve clearance was on the very low side of spec 0.010 intake and 0.033 exhaust, so adjustments were made to shims to get back to mid spec.
Right side valve clearance were OK at mid spec and the cam alignment was spot on.
Now I am satisficed the clearances and timing are perfect.
Socially distancing means staying at home looking for things to do, that job done what next?
