Yes, in May last year, there were 2 teams already working on extending the bitumin bits in the middle. Imagine riding past Docker River, without feeling like you've sailed through a hurricane, in the roaring 40s. There's always the Gunbarrel, I suppose, for the corrugation junkies.

41 kms plus the 60 odd kms that's there already, that means still another 1000 kms to go.
It'll be mainly dirt for a bit long yet.
the 60 odd ks that are spread between Docker River and Warburton are very welcome when your on them.
