Great Nannup Pilgrimage: Sat 30 - Sun 31 Oct 2021

Post by Swampy »

Hi All, A reminder that there is only 6 weeks to go before we head off on our now annual pilgrimage to Nannup 8)

Make sure you book in at the hotel or reserve a spot for your swag or tent at the local caravan park. AND Don't forget to register your intent to join us on the BMWMCCWA Events List.

Peter has kindly agreed again this year to plot an interesting route to Nannup with a suitable place to stop for lunch along the way.
I will be tagging along as Tail End Charlie again.

We will be meeting up at the Ampol Servo on the Cnr of South West Highway and Del Park Road in North Dandalup on Saturday the 30th October from 0800 hrs.

There will be a short briefing on general information and Corner Marking before we depart.

DEPARTURE WILL BE 0900 HRS. SHARP, If you are late arriving we will see you in Nannup about 1600 hrs.

We should arrive in Nannup at around 1600 hrs to give people a chance to book in and freshen up before sharing a few drinks before dinner which will be held at the pub.

We normally organise to have breakfast at around 0800 hrs. on the Sunday morning at a Cafe in town before departing on a different route to return home.
Of course you are free to make your own plans for your journey home.

This is the fourth year now that this ride has taken place (Covid Permitting) and has proved to be an enjoyable fun weekend for club members with our numbers increasing every year!!

I Hope to see even more of you joining us this year for a great club event!!

PS: As the 30th will be my birthday you are all invited to buy me a drink to help me celebrate or commiserate, Whatever??

Hi all, Are you getting excited??

Your Not?? ............Well there is still time for you to get excited and join the 27 Happy Campers heading off to Nannup in 3 weeks time!!

Yes only 3 short weeks to go before we depart on another Magical Mystery Tour of our South West along some interesting twisting and winding back roads, stopping along the way for a casual lunch around midday before continuing our journey through some more lovely countryside before arriving in Nannup around 1600 hrs.

Then its time to refresh and unwind in the hotel beer garden and socialise with your fellow travelling companions to relive the events of the days rides and to ponder your choice of an evening meal around 1800 hrs. 8)

The fun and frivolity continues until "Last shout Gents" before you endeavour to remember where you are supposed to sleep that night

Breakfast is normally taken at the Melo Velo Cafe about 50 metres down the road towards the Caravan Park.

The we depart for home and the choice is yours to make your own way or to remain with the group to meander along an alternative route arranged by Peter Spencer who will be your Ride Leader for the weekend!! (Thank You Pete!!)

Looking forward to some good company on another great weekend away with the BMWMCCWA!!

Okay Folks, I can't seem to make anything happen on the Clubs Facebook Forum so am posting here instead!!

Only one week to go and 30 Club members will be departing for Nannup on our Annual Pilgrimage!!

The Road Ride is departing from the Ampol Servo in North Dandalup which is on the corner of South Western Highway and Del Park Road meeting from 0800 hrs. So Fuel up bike and body and be ready for a brief briefing on Corner Marking and the venue for lunch if you are doing an Isuzu!!

DEPARTURE WILL BE 0900 HRS Sharp.

For those interested in doing it in the dirt, Raider has organised a Dirt Road Route.
Look up his post on the Clubs Website if you are interested in joining him!!

Also for you your information and edification I have booked the Nannup Brewery Company as our venue for the Evening Meal.

The venue is new, only being established earlier this year. It appears to be a very pleasant place for us to gather without outside interference for a social drink and a meal.
It does cater for Vegetarians also!!

The reason I booked this place is because of a bad experience with the quality of the meals served up at the Hotel a week or so ago when I visited the area!!

I for one can't wait to meet and greet you folks next Saturday morning on my newly aquired R1200RS.

I am also looking forward to another great ride organised and led by the indomitable Peter Spencer Esq.
I will bring up the rear!!

See you soon

Hi Again Folks, I just had someone question if the Accommodation remains the same?

The short answer is YES, Nothing else changes. About 2 years ago we as a large group had a an hour or so at the Hotel quenching our thirsts before, just for a change decided to go to another venue for our evening meal!

That venue is the same place I have booked for next Saturday. It is only a short 2 minute walk down the road.

We had a great night out at that restaurant but it sadly went out of business last year because covid restrictions in Perth severely impacted their turnover!!

I for one think we will have a grand time at this new venue for two reasons. We will be all together as a group and not spread out all over the place in separate little pockets as occurs in the Hotel.
Secondly, I believe you will find the service and meals 100% better at The Brewery then at the at hotel.

I hope this explanation clears up and answers any worries or doubts you may have been experiencing?

If you do have questions causing you an issue please don't hesitate to contact me by email or text (I don't always have my phone on my person)

Regards

Hi Guys, unfortunately the results of me coming off Bumblebee on Sunday are persisting and I will not be able to make the run to Nannup. Hope to see you all as soon as I’m upright.

Glad to have you both on board Jeff and looking forward to seeing you in Nannup!! 8)

And while I have everyone's attention, Scruff (Ross) will be traveling down with the group in his FORD, I hope his RAC membership is paid up?

He won't be towing a trailer but reckons he is happy to carry riders excess luggage down!!

Another Year and another great ride ably led by Pete with a large group of club members!!

The weekend was special in two ways for me. It was the first long run on my new RS recently purchased from a good mate Ross (Scruff) Higgins!!

Secondly it was my birthday and was made extra special by celebrating it with my mates on another glorious weekend of riding, eating, drinking and good humour!!

Thank you one and all for making the weekend so successful especially Pete who conjured up another interesting route and leading approx. 26 bikes to Nannup without any issues or mishaps.

Thanks to my mate Lefty for entertaining me and the group with a few songs!!

Robin (Raider) For actually staying overnight at a club function for the first time in years! (Did a solo ride in the dirt from Perth}

All of you who joined us at Nannup and helped make it another great weekend!!

Next year may see another venue being chosen for the Getaway Weekend!!

Kind Regards to all!!

Yes Swampy, another successful voyage south and north without any Beemers failing to proceed, no individuals lost from the pack and no motorcycles spearing off into the undergrowth. All the venues worked well with the numbers and we were all so well behaved we can probably go back to them again if required. My thanks to all participants who helped with cornerman marking and special thanks to Swampy for being TEC heading south and Wes for TEC heading north. Perfect weather for the trip made the still green countryside even better to glide through.

Thank you Swampy for organising a great event and Peter for planning two great routes, one there and one back. The Upper Capel Road on the return trip was gorgeous, with several riders commenting on it. A good time away and thanks to everyone involved, a classic weekend away.

Thanks Nannup Nick for your kind words!!

Well Folks the mystery of the Gerry's has been solved. The Barmaid at the Nannup Hotel informed me that Gerry had broken down and was waiting for a pickup from his good wife!!

I thought it was Gerry Hamil who had come to grief, But No I was wrong, Strange That??

It turned out to be the better looking version of the "Gerries" Mr. McCabe himself. 8)

Gerry's Beemers battery died and changed shape on his way to join us, Result Bum Beemer!! Nil Nannup!!

And guess what? Yes Gerry's tool kit had been left on his other bike at home !!

However all was not loss as his wife eventually turned up with trailer in tow to cart poor Gerry and his Bum beemer home. :P

Glad all was resolved for you Gerry but I must tell you mate that you missed a ripper weekend!!
