Bird Watching

[Bozo]

A moderate turnout at Catalano's on our record breaking heat day. Lots of interesting bikes with repairs made to bikes and riders.

Ted, Peter Bee and Bozo took a trek through the Darling Scarp and Albany Highway to get to Jarrahdale. At Araluen we passed a Ducati group where a rider had missed one of the turns and his bike was down in the bush. He had another rider with him. We informed riders waiting down the road what had happened and they mobilised to help.

Jarrahdale General Store had its usual gathering of motorbikes but was surrounded by birds. Red Tailed Black Cockatoos were noisily feeding in the nearby Marri. Pink and Grey Galahs swooped in small groups with an immature galah giving the distinct feeding sound in a tall tree. A group of three honeyeaters (New Holland?) were feeding only a few metres from us. It was enjoyable talking about flora and fauna on farms with this avian display surrounding us.

We headed home via Nettelton Road with a deviation down Old Brickworks Road to Byford where the ride ended. It hit 39 degrees on the way home.

Most of the ride was on shaded roads and mild temperatures. It warmed up as we came into Jarrahdale and when we headed down to the Swan Coastal Plain.

Yes another hard TEC task with a total of 3 bikes - bloody hard work in the sweltering heat Thanks Bozo for thinking up an enjoyable short ride for a hot day, I hit 41 degrees on the Tonkin on route to Ascot. Seeing the poor Ducati rider in the bush was a sobering message that 100% attention is required at all times. Hope he/she is OK. So great to have Ted on the ride, hope I can do the same when I reach his young age. Stay cool
