The Curse of Covid
Hi All, I guess I am laying my head on the chopping block here but I believe that what I am about to say needs to be said in support of the silent majority!!
We have been living with this cursed Covid for 2 years now and it's not going to go away anytime in the forseeable future.
We are now, especially with our national and international borders being opened directly in the firing line to cop a dose before we all get much older!!
Some of us are fully vaccinated and some of us choose not to be and I am not here to enter into any pointless arguments overs peoples choices either way!!
However what does concern me is the fact that there are some amongst us not practicing the correct protocols that the government has directed we follow in order to minimise our risk of catching or spreading this awful virus!!
Catalano's on a Sunday morning is a prime example of what I am talking about here and we are all equally guilty here as we don't follow guidelines by separating as we should be and the majority of members also don't wear masks whilst not eating or drinking
You can rightly argue that masks are not required to be worn whilst out in the open but I ask you to consider the vastly increased risks of spreading or catching the virus amongst ourselves while we are in so close proximity with each other totally unaware of how others are socialising in their own private lives!!
As a result of observing this situation I for one have chosen to remove myself from Cat's to minimise the risk both to myself and to others!!
A small group of us have chosen to apply preventive medicine and to safe guard ourselves as much as possible.
I am therefore appealing to all club members to give some consideration to what I am saying here and to join in the push to minimise risk to not only you and your families but to your BMWMCCWA mates.
It is easy enough to do, Wear your mask when not eating or drinking, Maintain the appropriate distance required when sitting and eating and lets all look after one another as best we can !!
By practicing these small things, you may find some absent members will consider it safe enough to join back in what is normally a great social activity?
My apologies if this offends anyone but I sincerely hope by me stating the obvious publicly we can jog peoples minds into a positive action!!
Yours Sincerely
Swampy

I think you have both over stepped the mark. Every individual is responsible for either complying or not. We (society) have enough people (Governments and individuals) reminding us of the requirements and (IMO) do not need any more reminders…everybody is just a little bit tired of it all.
Every individual can practice the restrictions safely if they choose to. If that means you isolate yourself socially then that is a choice you make.
No offence intended.

Plus one on all aspects identified above.Digger wrote: ↑Fri 18 Mar, 2022 8:48 am I think you have both over stepped the mark. Every individual is responsible for either complying or not. God save us from the Government and the Media. My personal perception of the situation is: Create delusion. Establish doubt. Feed paranoia.
No offence intended.

Digger, Your comments are noted and I can understand your being annoyed with the constant advise and demands being imposed on us over the last two years!!
You obviously didn't need me to add my thoughts!!
However I will stand by what I wrote as I think it was required to give everyone in the club a much needed wake up call!!
You are right, you are all adults and can choose which stance you adopt quite freely!!
My choice is to protect my family and my friends if I am able to and as such will continue to attempt to minimise the risk to them by adhering to the guidelines as set out by the WA. Government Health Officials.
Kind Regards
Swampy

Swampy, you had your third jab in December, so you are now due for your fourth because it is directed towards over 65s (you are in the vulnerable cohort) and the immunocompromised (which is basically all of the rest of us); we know that the concept of natural immunity is a myth. I would advise you to have yours sooner, rather than later because of the emergence of the subvariants of concern, the BA2 and the BA3, which we know are even more deadlier and more transmissable than the original subvariant. Can you upload your proof (of 4th jab) as soon as you get it, so that we can follow suit?
In terms of trips occurring in the upcoming winter, we'll have to all catch up with all 4 jabs, to comply with Government (and other's) regulations. It is essential that we prevent the spread of the coronavirus, I get it that it's not just us but all the other West Aussies we meet along the way. We couldn't and we shouldn't and we mustn't. Swampy, I won't shed a tear as a result of your absence from Cats!

Is natural immunity a myth? It certainly is not! I've been taking vitamins and minerals and I haven't gotten sick in almost 5 years. And even covid! Haven't had any vaccinations though.wightman wrote: ↑Fri 25 Mar, 2022 8:59 am https://www.news.com.au/technology/scie ... d54d65a6fdbp

But I would still advise people 65+ to get the covid shot, since that's a risk group. And there is no telling what state of immunity such a person is in.
Re: The Curse of Covid
Jack Russel, I'm being cynical. I've been just acting normally, over the last couple of years and haven't had an off day yet. In February, I had a bit of a sore throat and a very mild headache. Do I have antibodies yet? Probably!
Onya for avoiding the death shots. No accolades for going down that path.
You might have noticed recently, that children in Australia are getting influenza, which is incredibly serious (and sad). Their parents have been shielding them from breathing in God's good air and their immune systems have weakened immensely.
