Thursday March 24 MOJOS MUNDARING

Standard - departing Gloria Jeans Ascot 7:45am up to Mojos Mundaring leaving there at 9:15am ish DDD.

After meeting up at Gloria Jeans Ascot, Peter, Brian, Chris & Robbie departed for a cooler ride to Mojo’s via our usual southern Darlington loop. We were surprised to see Nick waiting for us, his prior commitment was cancelled enabling him to join in for a ride. Also joining the assembly was Ross, Vic and Swampy.

Now that Peter no longer had afternoon commitments, his preference was to have a longer run so that he could enjoy the country air and blow the cobwebs out of the RT. As discussed at Ascot, Calingiri was offered to the group as a destination. as there was no dissention, Brian was seconded to lead the ride.

The route out was initially along GEH, turning north at Sawyers Valley, a few zig zags to intercept Bunning Road. An extra zag was added so that we missed a dirt section to keep Ross’s new bike pristine, only to be thwarted later. Then down Toodyay Rd, the opportunity to take Salt Valley Road was not taken as a truck ahead of us had just turned down it.
Vic separated continuing on to Toodyay while the remainder turned off to have a brief stop on Katrine Rd. Then we carrying on to up Southern River Road, on to the Meckering – Goomalling and the Calingiri – Goomalling roads before arriving at Calingiri for a lunch stop.

After this trip Ross’s brand-new RT only needs a ride in a thunder storm to have been ridden in all conditions. The trip up to Calingiri included several kms of gravel ready to be sealed, smoke from crop burn off. The homeward leg had a section of freshly tared road. Luckily it was well covered with blue metal so should not have left too many tar spots. Sorry Ross did not read the road condition reports

The homeward leg for the majority was across to the Great Northern Highway and on to the Tonkin Hwy. Swampy elected to head home via Toodyay.

Thanks all for a very enjoyable day out in ideal conditions. Swampy as TEC ensured that no one got separated.

Thanks B/5 for leading another interesting ride on roads we have not seen for a while. Not being the lead or TEC is cruising country, I must try it again Very pleasant day.
