Digger
Looking forward to reports from your trip. I see that Marble Bar temperatures will drop below 100 degrees F on Wednesday. Is that the cue for the desert riding season to open?

We'll be turning off just south of Marble Bar at Nulligine (and heading along Skull Springs Road...bewdifull!) where it is a much cooler temp in the low 30's.
Appparently, it is not advised to be 'up north' from November to April.

I think its time to stretch the boundaries a little...after all, it is April.
Wish us luck...what could possibly go wrong?

Looks like Digger, His Royal Griceness and JP have safely got to Carawine Gorge.
Tourist shot to give you an idea of the country.

Look's like a great trip in that remote part. Track went into the Kiwwirrkurra community and then back for ~47km's? May be getting fuel for someone that has run out, permit issue, community closed or road issues? Looks like a bush camp off the road at that spot.

1 Front tyre puncture and
2 Lost luggage
Some people are like Slinkys, you can't help smiling when you push them downstairs.

Wow! I really wish I went on this ride. I am imagining travelling all that way around this big beautiful country to hit McD's! I am missing out big time!
Re: So much to do; so little time!
We had to backtrack 50km to look for lost baggage…more detailed update in a day or two. Watch this space…KoosWA wrote: ↑Tue 26 Apr, 2022 6:34 am Look's like a great trip in that remote part. McDonalds at Alice Springs is a right of passage only for the select few. Maybe next time?

Hello Slackers,
Update- End of Day 8 - Perth to Alice Springs via Gary Junction Road.
We have arrived safely at Alice Springs after a not so seamless ride. Although we never encountered anything that stopped us in our tracks, each day has provided some unexpected events that has meant that we have had to use all of our experience and resourcefulness to reach our current destination. From here, we return to Perth via Uluru and Great Central Road.
See captions below….you won’t regret it.
Our forward journey - 3,400 km. Perth to Alice Springs via Gary Junction Road.
I never considered doing a road access check because we haven’t had any heavy rain for a while. We came across this sign on the Marourbra Road leading to Paynes Find. Bummer.
We had phone reception and rang the Shires. They gave us the all clear. Probably too busy (lazy) to change the signs.

Update Day 8 cont…
Chris had a doughy tyre on the morning of day two. We weren’t sure whether it was a slow leak or a punctured tube. We stuck some air in it and kept going.
During transiting from Sandstone to Wiluna my bike ticked over 100,000km. Quite an achievement. A lot of blokes sell their bikes (GS/GSA) boasting ‘never been off road and never been dropped’. I can boast ‘always been taken off road and been on its side several times’. After all, it is an Adventure bike.
Wiluna Traders after refuelling and heading towards Newman via Ned’s Creek Road.

Update Day 8 cont…
Rest stop heading north to Nullagine in the East Pilbara.
Need fuel and water for our longest leg; 650km between resupply. Stocking up at Nullagine.
JP pulled over to check behind and got his foot caught while trying to place it in the ground. The AT went over for the first time in its life.
