Post by pspencer »

Note new location this week to give our southern members an incentive. Leaving Gloria Jeans Ascot at 7:45am to slide down to DOME BYFORD leaving there at 9:15 ish DDD but somewhere south obviously.

Fantastic Autumn weather for riding. B/5, Robbie and Peter Bee met at GG’s Ascot and took the Tonkin. Bill joined us on the Tonkin and we took Abernathy Rd to Byford Dome. It wasn’t long before Anthony, Digger and Goldie joined us. We had Harvey in our minds for lunch so off we set with B/5 leading us with some interesting diversions to end up in Pinjarra.
Peter Bee took over as lead and we headed towards Dwellingup back to Coolup and back through Coronation and Johnson to hit Government road heading south.
Our usual Restaurant in Harvey looks permanently closed so we went to the Harper Street Bakery and Cafe and ran into Simon Monteith and his buddies. Good food and coffee with very pleasant outdoor seating. Now our Harvey destination.
Back home some retread the same route, except Robbie who headed East for dirt roads and Goldie heading towards Mandurah. B/5 soon departed to go and see Thorsten and Digger left us at Pinjarra with the remaining Bill and Peter Bee taking the middle route of Corio/Hopeland/Kargotich/Tonkin. Too easy with 360kms knotched up for me.
Thanks to all for the great company and the various TEC’s. Pity the Novacastrians did not join us.

For those interested the ride out to Pinjarra was initially down towards BeemerDave’s old territory.
Leaving Byford it was down Abernethy which had a police car parked in the medium strip. A dogleg across Kargotich to carry on down Orton, then into Casurina Rd. Along Banksia, Duckpond before turn up Mundijong to Lightbody. This leg had sections of narrow tree lined country roads with interesting bends, the last place wanted to meet a wide load. Then up Lowlands with a dogleg via Summerfield to Richardson to go through Serpentine. From here it was almost the regular route to Pinjarra, along Hall, Salmon Bark, Utley, Westcott, Henderson, then the long straight run down Hopeland, into the sweeping Corio bends.

No better day to refresh the mind and relax.
Thanks all for your company, another great days riding

To anyone that has yet to ride on the above mentioned roads, next time there's a ride there, go. You would have to be excused for thinking your down south somewhere, the route is scenic and the roads are winding twisting. There are a lot of nice riding roads in that area, you just got to get out there and find them and when you do you will be going back again.
