Hello Snowflakes,
Before I had a chance to finish my last update, I'm already off again. This time to do the Gunbarrel from Wiluna and then the Connie Sue down to Rawlinna. His Royal Griceness will join me and a bunch (about 12 vehicles) from the Wanneroo Wanderers 4WD Club. Depart Saturday 2 July from Bindoon Bakery.

Image
Not a good start. Punched out the side window 3 days before departure. No windows available in the State.

Image
Temporary repair until i get back. It will have to do!

SPOT Link available here.

Update end of Day 10…

We are bush camped just outside Rawlinna near the Trans Cont Railway. It’s been a tough few days. Slow going on the Connie Sue Highway and brutal conditions including dunes, cap rock and deep washaways. Conditions should improve when we start heading West along the railway line to Kalgoorlie.
See captions below.

Image
Waiting for the Warburton Roadhouse to open at 9am for refuelling and resupply.

Image
While waiting for the Roadhouse to open, I tried to find a freshwater tap. I bumped into he local Copper who said they don’t even brush their teeth with the town water. He gifted me 15 litres of bottled water. What a good guy!

Image
It’s a harsh environment out here.

Trip complete.
Returned to Perth on Wed 13 Jul. No real serious issues...a few punctures and very cold nights. Glorious weather during the days and some interesting roads and tracks.
See captions below.

Image
Mothballed Lime Mine at Rawlinna....wouldn't take much to re activate it I guess if it was needed.

Image
Tables and chairs laid out at Rawlinna. The Indian Pacific stops here for passengers to enjoy a Dinner in the middle of BF Nowhere. It must be all part of the Outback experience they promise in the brochures.
An extract from the brochure...
"2 nights aboard the Indian Pacific, Adelaide to Perth
including all meals and beverages and Off Train
Experiences in remote Cook and Rawlinna".

See you on the other side!
