The ‘I Know My Limitations’ Ride – 20-24 March

Post by Digger »

Hello Slackers,

Contrary to popular belief, there are some places I have not visited here in Oz. One of them is the Big Bell ruins near Cue here in WA. To be honest, there’s probably not much to see but it’s all about the journey; not the destination.
I opened this ride up to everyone on the BMWMCCWA Facebook Page. We ended up with a group of about 8-10 Riders showing interest. That number has now reduced to about 3-4 but we’ll see who shows up on the day. Work commitments seemed to have got in the way for some. The heat may have something to do with it also. It promises to be uncomfortable in the saddle.

The outline plan is;
Meet at Ampol Foodary at Stratton for a 9am departure on Mon 20 Mar.
Mon 20 Mar - Bush Camp near (probably just south of) Paynes Find on Maroubra Road,
Tues 21 Mar - Bush camp around/near Big Bell Mine,
Wed 22 Mar - Bush camp between Sandstone and Southern Cross,
Thur 23 Mar - Bush camp just East of Hyden (around Forrestonia),
Fri 24 Mar - Return to Perth.

SPOT activated from the departure point. SPOT Link is here;

The proposed route. Approx 2,000km door to door. Longest stretch between fuel stops is 448km Sandstone to Southern Cross.

Remaining hydrated will be the priority...unpleasant riding conditions.

See you on the other side!

Hi Folks,
Tag along with these gutsy Riders as they tackle the Aussie Outback in temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius. Some considered it foolhardy and pulled the pin early (you can’t blame ‘em) and others politely declined. Either way, youse gotta know your limits.
Grab ya gear; Lets go!

:P

It takes a very brave and experienced person not to be afraid to travel in this temperature. I am not surprised that someone refused. And I admire those who accepted the challenge.

Hello Slackers,
A Riders got to Know His (Her) Limitations! – An Outback Motorcycle Adventure - Part Two (Finalé)

Tag along with these gutsy Riders as they tackle the Aussie Outback in temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius. Some considered it foolhardy and pulled the pin early (you can’t blame ‘em) and others politely declined. Either way, youse gotta know your limits.

In this Finalé, da BoyZ continue their Adventure and take a closer look at the abandoned gold mining town of Big Bell. From there they pick their way southwards towards Southern Cross for an essential resupply but not before disaster strikes.

Grab ya gear; Lets go!

See you on the other side!
