When Mayo is not enough

Post by Bozo »

Stupendous weather and scattered colour from wildflowers gave Sunday a large group for a convoluted ride to Bakers Hill. Catalano's had been packed but in a quiet corner Nev was helping Goldie out with diagnostics on Goldie's GS. A bit of Karma given that Goldie had travelled to Bunbury to help a club member.

Thirteen riders, Bruce, Phil, John, Nannup Nick, Multimedia Mark, GS Mark, Ted, Rod Rocket Peter, Rob, Medic Mike, David S, David LS and Bozo took Pomeroy, Aldersyde and Mundaring Weir Roads at sedate speeds before passing a rear facing speed camera just short of Sawyers Valley. A quiet run behind traffic on Great Southern Highway sparked some members, "Dominos", to mutiny on Talbot West Road before order was regained on the York Williams Road. Top Beverley Road was enjoyable with sparse traffic before a deviation onto the York Quairading Road for the link to the Goldfields Road via Marwick Road. Using the Burges Siding Road the group took Spencers Brook Road to Trimmer Road and the old Great Eastern Highway alignment to get to Clackline.

A happy group at Bakers Hill, with the "Dominos" merging back into the mob. (Image courtesy Bruce Smit)

The return trip was via Oyston, Inkpen, Vineyard, Werribee, Bailup, Mayo, Breeze and Lilydale Roads to get to Chidlow. Liberton Road was promised but not delivered. An excellent day out despite missing Liberton Road.

Thanks to the excellent work of Nannup Nick in running as tail end Charlie.
