Thursday August 1 MOJOS MUNDARING

Post by pspencer »

New month, time flying, will the weather be as fine as it is now on Wednesday, doubt it. Leaving Gloria Jeans Ascot at 7:30am to slip, but hopefully not slide, up to Mojos Mundaring for a 9:15am ish departure to who knows? DDD. Understand some brave Border Runners are meeting there prior to heading East, we can wish them a safe journey.

The trip from home to Ascot GJs was dry, this was until Boza arrived bring the rain. After a break for coffee, and with no other riders we departed just after 7:30. By this time there was a break in the weather so had almost a dry run up to Mojos. To keep Peter in his comfort zone we used the usual route via Bushmead, Helena Valley.

Lou was waiting for us at Mojos, then to be joined by the boarder run party. It was mentioned that there would be a stop at Meckering for a coffee. We followed the group out via GEHwy. As no one had stopped at Meckering we carried on to Cunderdin only to find a few at the servo with lefty who was refuelling.

PeterBee, Lou and B5 agreed that we would turn and head to Beverley. It was south down to Quairading, then west to Mawson to turn towards Beverley. Arriving just after 12:00 we found that the Red Vault was closed so moved up the road to the Bakery. The weather stayed fine until the last few kms and then it was only light rain. The field were mostly a brilliant green with a few starting to have the canola in flower, very different to the summer parched fields.

Again, another short light shower on departing Beverley, and then fine for the remainder of the trip home, which was via Talbot Rd to The Lakes, and back onto the GEHwy

Thanks Peter & Lou for another great day’s riding

Thank you Brian for leading us on a very rewarding winter run into the Wheatbelt. The weather was a lot better than expected but not warm enough to remove any one of my numerous layers, but that is winter riding- expect it to be cold and dress accordingly. Lou’s new KTM 1290 Adventure S ran like a dream. A very enjoyable Thursday foray.
