Post by pspencer »

Spring may be here but there maybe a few showers tomorrow. With the Red Vault Café in Beverley closing on the 15th thought we would make a last visit, but of course DDD. Leaving Gloria Jeans at 7:30am to motor to Mojos Mundaring for a 9:15am ish departure. See you all there

We all knew it would be damp and it was! B/5 had other duties this morning but he still joined Lefty and me at GJ’s for a chat and coffee. So it was only 2 that carefully rode to Mundaring in light rain showers, temperature around 9 degrees.
Mick, Steve and Navigator Nick turned up at GJ’s with Fiery Ross in his car. So ultimately it was only Mick, Steve and NNick that followed me on the agreed route to the Red Vault Café in Beverley.
Standard route via Stoneville, Mt Helena, Chidlow, Wooroloo, GEH, Inkpen and GSH into York. Took the York Merriden/Quairading Rd then Top Beverley Rd to take the GSH into Beverley. Showers and temperature around 12 degrees.
The Red Vault is closing on September 15, but was open today with a steady flow of customers. The tough quartet sat outside under cover with showers clearing to sunshine - yah. Nice food as usual and layback easy chatting.
The sun was shining as we headed onto Waterhatch and the Talbots but it was evident with the dark grey sky this was going to be short lived. Squalls hit us causing a slower pace but fortunately it only lasted for a short time and the light showers resumed. Stopped at The Lakes to bid farewells and rode through showers into suburbia.
Interesting that during the squalls the temperature was only 7 degrees, but I figured that this was wet bulb temperature as the probe is exposed to wind driven rain. It was cold but didn’t feel that cold.
Thanks guys for joining me on the wet farewell ride to the Red Vault and Mick for TEC duties with his well lit 1600.
