Rainer, Shiner Wright, Steve, Sophie, DFS, Bob, Grant, R90S Mark, Navigator Nick, Dinga, Wightman and Bozo passed an enormous green heart cut into a sloping paddock in the Bickley Valley which contrasted with the heart break of a shed full of hay that had burnt down near York. A snake was the only notable fauna spotted on the trip. A 1928 Sunbeam motorcycle, at the Lakes, created a bit of interest.

A stop at the Baker's Hill bakery was followed by a run on Chitty Road (still a few hundred metres of good gravel) and Bailup Road for the ride to end at Mount Helena.
On the way down Greenmount, what I think was a leafcutter native bee got stuck under my gear. I was surprised that it seemed to be stinging multiple times and still moving around. I stopped at a petrol station at the bottom of Greenmount an removed my jacket and shook my shirt. I did not see anything come out. When I went into the petrol station and asked to use the facilities to strip off, a black bee, the size of a honey bee flew out of my jacket and landed on the counter. The alarmed attendant backed off and I used my credit card to resolve the situation. Lesson learnt, native bees can sting and sting multiple times without dying. The stings were more like ant bites but still painful.
Fantastic to be able to do a run through the Wheatbelt at this time of the year in comfortable temperatures. Thanks to Wightman for running as tail end Charlie.
