Rain Radar Roulette

Post by Bozo »

An attenuated attendance at Catalano's this morning with wintery weather and road closures to accommodate runners. Only 12 riders and a few vehicles made it.

Six riders were regular rain radar app viewers in supporting the decision to run with the weather at our backs on a journey to Brigadoon and Bindoon. The group were hoping to snag a patch of blue sky and have it hover over us for the journey north. A sprinkle near the airport and what looked like a tornado in the direction we were heading did not bode well.

Fortunately R90S Mark, Multi Media Mark, His Royal Griceness, Steve N, Wightman and Bozo dodged the black clouds and had a dry run up Haddrill Road and down Campersic Road. Despite sighting over 30 kangaroos there no close calls.

A decision was made to divert to Wandena Road to avoid a rain band. A 4WD driver had a costly off that was being resolved as we turned from Blue Plains Road onto Chittering Road. A messy recovery was in progress to winch the vehicle up an embankment. We reached the Bindoon Bakehaus just as it started to rain.

After warming sustenance at the Bindoon Bakehaus a decision was made to take a forecast drier run home via Julimar Road and Toodyay. A shower hit us as we left Bindoon as well as another shower on Julimar Road. We were the only motorcycles in the main street of Toodyay before a dry run on Salt Valley Road.

Thanks to the group for being prepared to play rain radar roulette and to Wightman for running as tail end Charlie.

Way better to get out on the bike and get a bit wet than sit on the couch and watch the Eagles.

Great run thanks Bozo and his merry rain band of dodging men, successfully I might add. A slight bit of damp but nothing to cry about. Well done all. His Royal Griseness had more water in those jeans than the Warragambah dam.
