Thursday February 5 MOJOS MUNDARING

Post by pspencer »

A touch of warmth forecast but easily bearable. Leaving Ascot Gloria Jeans at 7:30am to conquer the Scarp and arrive at Mojos Mundaring for a departure to possibly Yerecoin at 9:00am ish. But as usual open to offers of leading and different destinations.

Corner Marking won’t be the same without Cornea Mark. Hoping we will see eye to eye better in the future.

The usual group plus a few drop-ins meet at Gloria Jeans. PeterB lead the group out past the old Midland Railway Workshops, for a long Helena Valley Ride up to Mojo’s. Traffic lights and round-abouts and heavy traffic through Midland split the group. Corner marking worked well with us regrouping along Clayton Rd.

PeterB’s suggest to go to Yerecoin this was accepted with Brian/5 taking the lead with PeterB as TEC.
Eight riders joined the group with majority having other commitments. The route out was relatively straight forward heading directly to Toodyay Road, via Lancewood Ave ( The Woops ) and down to the GNHwy. Roadworks on the start of Railway Parade meant we had stop at Gingers Roadhouse to regroup due to the delays in turning right onto GNHwy. Then up Apple St back to the planned route along Railway Parade. Up to Muchea to Brand Hwy [1], Cockram, Mooliabeenee and onto {116}.
One rider turned back after rest stop at the Wannamal Community Centre, before continuing onto Gillingarra-New Norcia Rd. In the 90 speed transition zone at Mogumber there was one of the new boom speed cameras.
Brian/5 & Ralph refuelled at New Norcia with only 91 was available. Then a short trip across to Yerecoin for lunch. A good selection was available. The discussion was mostly of the SW Karri forests. Nick giving us details of the Munda Biddi & Bibbulmun tracks

The route home was down to Coondle W, River, Salt Valley and finally Toodyay Roads. The temperature was comfortable with it only getting warn in the traffic on the GEHwy Bypass. My distance was just over 400kms.
Great company & Ride
Thanks PeterB for keeping the group together.
