March Tuning Day for Neale Junction

Post by old betsy »

March 26th, 12pm at Bullys House.

There has been some issues raised by members wanting to go to Neale Junction.
So we will try and answer some of these issues for some of our newer riders.
We will get a couple of different bikes there for people to see how they will be set up to go
to Neale Junction.
Also discuss what needs to be done to get the bikes ready to go to N.J.
This will hopefully take out some of myths so our newer members feel at ease about N.J.
More info to come.

Please post your interest for numbers

Remember the ride is about getting there and getting home. Not about who can get there the quickest.

Most problems can be solved with a suitable application of throttle!

I'll have a couple of different fuel carrying systems here and the different luggage systems that I use, hopefully Jesse may be able to display some Steel Pony's as well so that riders are aware of what different equipment is available.

I wanted to wait till i had my bike back on the road before i ordered some soft panniers (after my tumble on the return journey from NJ last year)....i picked up my bike a week ago and ordered the panniers from Steel Pony last week. They will not be available till May so those who may be setting their bike up for Desert Raid, you would be well advised not to let it go too late.

Auto Classic had a couple of steel pony soft panniers in stock last week, don't know what price they were.

bet they are for show only !!!!!. Pete and cew generally make to order. He may post up something shortly to discredit this. ( you can hope).

I use a Bags Connection setup for short use ( 2-7 days) or hard panniers and Andystrapz AA Bag for long term ( 7 days on). I'll have all setups on display on the day.

the day will still go ahead as planned. The theme for Neale Junction may have altered but there are riders out there who need advice on how to prepare their bike for an extended Adventure type ride. Whilst BMWMCCWA may not be directly involved with the Desert Raid there is interest from ADV riders from all around Australia and there will still be riders turning up at NJ on the Saturday evening.

At this stage Michael from Mottorad is coming along with fuel carrying systems and also some luggage systems.

Is it possible to say why NJ is cancelled?

I'm still coming to tuning day. As my bike is set up ready to travel to Adelaide on the dirt all the way, hopefuuly.
Still happy to discuss about setting up bike for a ride to Neale Junction and the likes.
Questions and answers as to why Neale Junction was cancelled will be answered at next General Meeting.

from what I can read into it, it is to do with insurances, liabilities and the club is covering it's arse and those of the members from any possible legal issues. Whilst the BMWMCCWA is not hosting the Raid, riders will still attend on their own bat.

This is my personal view and not the official information from the club, as mentioned all will be explained at the next general meeting by those that have more knowledge on the workings than I do.
