Re: Border Run 2011
I was going to say you've turned into a big Sissy with all them luxuries, but I need to be careful because I think my plans may have had another change and I'm likely to be NOT riding my bike on the Border run, but driving in the luxury of an Outback. Logistics guys, not for a want of trying to ride the bike to NSW.

I think riding into Neale Junction at 10 oclock at night has changed Shane. He now tows the bed so he can stop anywhere anytime

Most problems can be solved with a suitable application of throttle!

Re: Border Run 2011
Strangers Welcome, (sometimes the stranger, the better!)
I will be going black-top all the way, leaving around 5:30am Friday 5th
from Caltex Starmart near the corner of Roe, and Gt Eastern Highways
camping just past Balladonia (about 900 k's for the day) on Friday night, easy 500 k's to border Saturday

Re: Border Run 2011
Hello Pete
I too with a band of merry follows? or is it me following? any way, we will stay on black top all the way.
We are leaving Thursday for a slightly longer but gentler ride - 3 days out, 2 days back, camping at 90 mile straight with the others Friday night.
Always open to fellow riders, make contact at breakfast or meeting beforehand to introduce yourself and find out more detail.
Regards
Cookie

Re: Border Run 2011
Thanks for the replies guys.
Like Red K100 I will probably only be able to get 4 days so will have to be friday set off. Lefty are you coming back on the Monday.
What sort of kit will I need.
Will I need to carry any extra fuel, I have a standard 1200gs so no big tank for me.

No extra fuel will need to be carried. You will need tent and camping equipment. Food and some alcohol of some sort.

Re: Border Run 2011
Hi Pete and Dale.
You are more than welcome to ride with us on the Friday (5:30 am start), camping at the start of the 90 mile straight, about 30k's past Balladonia
Just bring camping gear, and waterproof/warm clothes, the nights can be chilly
I am planning on leaving The Border on Sunday, stopover in Coolgardie or Norseman, and back into Perth Monday mid-afternoon.
Friday night's meal will be whatever you cook, other food available at Servo's along the way

Re: Border Run 2011 - getting dirty
How this for a discussion starter for those who like the dirt----
- Hyden - Norseman Road
- Cut across to Esperance
- Through to Isrealite Bay and then along the coast and up to Caiguna Roadhouse
'It's all about the comaraderie......'
