R1200GSA Tool Box

Post by jono »

I recently purchased a lockable Aluminum Toolbox that fits behind the right hand pannier frame of the GSA so that it sits between the pannier and the bikes sub frame and of course clears the swingarm. You may have seen these advertised on ebay occassionally, they are not cheap but they are well made.

I have been asked to post some details here and I suggest if there are club members interested in purchasing one of these tool boxes (I actually use mine for tyre repair and first aid kit) that a group buy would bring cost down both from discount but also economies of shipping. Alternatively Dave Sprockett is going to investigate the possibility of making something similar locally.

Here is the link to the site where I purchased minehttp://dsbikeprotection.com/index.php?p ... &Itemid=56

JonO,
have had initial discussions with Chris R. He is near completion of his current club project..... "tool for setting end float on final drive- 1150 GS".

Once that is out of the way, next in line is a good look at the toolbox and to come up with the costings.

Other items for consideration will be welded construction over rivets & sealing, also attatchment to surrounding frame configuration, as it would be nice if the the box mounting holes were drilled in conjuntion with the pannier frames, enabling it to be fitted to any type of frame/ bike.

Will keep you updated on the process.

Other thoughts include making a few for non club membere, other clubs etc. Any profits generated could also be a benefit to the club.

Hello Sisco,

Thanks for posting on our site and offering discount on bulk orders and shipments to Australia
To help our members decide if they want to participate in a bulk purchase are you able to indicate the volume discounts that you can offer? :)

Hi from France bought one of these on e-bay a couple of weeks ago am embarassed to disclose I paid a lot more for mine.
Decided not to hire a bike here they are all mad over here.I wonder how any of them stay alive driving on these roads. The roads are generally no bigger than goat tracks generally un- maintained surfaces and the frog drivers all think they are on a formula 1 track with no one else coming the otherway. Far too stressfull and I want to be able to come back to Oz intact . Great weather and food in the South of France thou. Temps in the 30s, blue skys and sunburn.
hope everyone is staying upright

Hi all,
in discussions with Chris R this morning at breakfast, we will not proceed with the manufacturing of these tool boxes, as originally planned. Estimated costings came up as too expensive in light of the estimated volume.

I suggest we discuss as a group, and then order a batch from Sisco (also on this thread).

Jono, suggest we get a list together with monies prior to ordering??

Cheers
Davey
