Re: R1200GSA Tool Box
Great Davey, does that mean I can have my tool box back?
Re: R1200GSA Tool Box
Hi all
I'm Sisco of DSbike.
The delivery of toolbox in a group is much cheaper than one.
It takes about 4 days from Spain to Australia.
Regards
Sisco

Hi Bill,bill9117 wrote:Hi from France bought one of these on e-bay a couple of weeks ago am embarassed to disclose I paid a lot more for mine.
Decided not to hire a bike here they are all mad over here.I wonder how any of them stay alive driving on these roads. The roads are generally no bigger than goat tracks generally un- maintained surfaces and the frog drivers all think they are on a formula 1 track with no one else coming the otherway. Far too stressfull and I want to be able to come back to Oz intact . Great weather and food in the South of France thou. Temps in the 30s, blue skys and sunburn.
hope everyone is staying upright

You've discovered that the tip-my-hat-to-em, crazy-lunatic-maniac bicyclists ride know where the most challenging motorycling roads/tracks are to be found
Next time I'm over there I'm getting cycling maps onto my GPS, riding during the week of course, and never on long weekends or public holidays.
Merely an observation, but there are a LOT of people in Europe
All I can say is that I thought the roads in France were quite reasonable compared to ITALY
I'm referring to the flat-land urbanized areas, not the lowly populated mountain regions. Italian roads (and autostradas) are why GS-style bikes with reasonably long-travel suspension are so popular in Europe. Even Western Queensland highways, after annual flooding, are in better condition.
Enjoy the rest of your blast in France... You are quite correct about the food, don't know how I ever managed to come back without needing to buy new bigger-sized clothing. Must have been the healthy serves of Munchener Weis Beer. Best substituted for food, and I think it was mentioned on at least a hundred occasions, part of a good, normal German diet

Hi Afrisisco,
Can you please send/post a some images of how you managed the water-proofing on your tool box. It can get wet under there.
I'm interested. It would allow me an opportunity to move heavy stuff (tyre repair stuff, maybe tools) closer to the bike centre line and/or not have to have a pannier hanging around on unnecessarily.

Subject to further reports on waterproofing, I concur._Wilks wrote:Mmmm... approx $130AUD delivered.
OK. If we get to 10+ takers, count me in.
Has anyone purchased a bulk order from overseas like this before ?
I DO KNOW that GST could apply if it's over a dollar limit (can't remember what that is) or if it purchased on a business account.
It's been a while and I'm sure the feds are out for more of a cut...
Note to Afrisisco: Western Australia is closer to Spain than Sydney NSW ergo less shipping

Re: R1200GSA Tool Box
The order needs to have a value of less AUD $1000 including freight and other costs.
Suggest you order to say around $950 on each invoice and place each order a few days apart.
You may consider using diffrent PO addresses for each parcel but not so critical.
Option could be to get split invoices for the packages so long as the one in the box complies with the above.
Cheers

Re: R1200GSA Tool Box
Hi all
The box is completely waterproof.
Sealed with polyurethane and the door has a neoprene rubber.
can safely bear weight.
Here are some photos.

Re: R1200GSA Tool Box
Looking good Sisco,
Is that a folded seam on the bottom of the box?
How Is the folded seam sealed?
How are the nuts and screw threads covered on the inside (Cap nuts) ?
Subject to the above, I'm in
Cheers

Another question Sisco...
Not sure if this has been discussed earlier in this thread, but it's my guess the hugger/mudguard thingy has to go otherwise it'll contact the toolbox under compression... is that right?
Your pic shows a hugger-less GSA.

Re: R1200GSA Tool Box
no, it's not necessary.
we tested off-road and no need to remove the mudguard, measures that have the suitcase does not interfere with it.

Re: R1200GSA Tool Box
I can vouch for that, I had mine fitted before Sprocket pinched it for analysis. It did not interfere with any standard GSA kit and does the job well. I will be fitting it again this weekend.
If anyone wants to put heir name down for one of these reply to this thread, once we have the numbers final I will set up a payment event on the website and we can place an order.
Cheers

Re: R1200GSA Tool Box
If they fit the 1150gs, I'm interested. Are the the fitting brackets
Standard or can they be adjusted to fit different pannier racks.
Robbo.

Re: R1200GSA Tool Box
Robbo I don't know if these would fit an 1150GS, if they did it would certainly require modification for fastening. Have a look at Bill's or mine one Sunday, you will get a Bette idea.
Sisco might respond and let you know if there is an 1150 version.
cheers
