Christmas Dinner 2012 Narrogin
Christmas Dinner 2012 Narrogin
Last year we headed north, thought that this year we could head SW. I checked up in Narrogin, 2hrs away from bonny Perth. The Duke of York can take us in; they have 14 rooms, any overflow could go to one of the two other motels in Narrogin. They'll do a buffet dinner for $40 per head, which includes choice of mains, two desserts and tea/coffee, then retire to your rooms afterwards. We would operate on a book-direct-with-the hotel-basis, whereby you book the room and the supper. They would not need payment beforehand but would probably need a credit card # or at least a contact number. This looks like a really nice venue.........
What we could do, is say meet up at the Gull servo, in Karragullen on Brookton highway, at 10 am, then head SW, via Brookton. We could then have lunch in Wagin, for instance, then head to Lake Dumbleyung to check out the old Black Duck Rally site, before heading off for Narrogin for sundowner drinks, followed by the dinner at the Duke Of York. They currently don't have any bookings for 15 December (Saturday) but its early enough for us to tweak these dates if necessary..........
Leisurely cruise home on Sunday 16th.
Positive feedback would be appreciably accepted.........

Not only that, they have promised us secure, lock up overnight security for our BMW's in the drive thru bottleshop opposite, so no worries. Their single rooms cost $65, doubles $85 and for those breakback mountain inclined, $90 for twin sharing. No doubt there'll always be one of us who will want to camp and Narrogin is equipped for this eventuality. John

Her beauty and her terror, the wide brown land for me."

The idea of every second year was to accomadate people that couldn't make the trip into the country.
Having it away restricts the number of people that can come due to family or work commitments,
or wifes that dont wont to get on the back of a motorbike for an all day ride.

Why not have it on Phillip Island?
Re: Christmas Dinner 2012 Narrogin
Hey folks, it's our mid year, annual dinner which we have always alternated country/city. This year it was in the Swan valley, at the Mallard Duck, last year Jennacubine Tavern. Our Christmas Dinner is usually held in an outlying town (like York or Toodyay) Last year we broke out of the mould, a little bit and went to (a darned good venue) New Norcia.

Re: Christmas Dinner 2012 Narrogin
I like the idea of going in a southerly direction at that time of year and to entice some our southern mates to join us. I also am of a view it needs to be no more than an hour or so out of Perth or we end up having even fewer folks attend if it is considered too far for those Perth-ites that are otherwise the backbone of the club. And, as we are beginning to encourage a good number of women to our social events would like to think whatever we do gives some consideration to them, too. My concern about Narrogin is that it is a bigger town. I would prefer a smaller village to avoid any boozy crowds and social misfits not on BMWs. What small places such as Quindanning, Dwellingup, Jarrahdale or similar might make other good option?

Are boozy crowds and social misfits on BMWs OK?
Narrogin sounds good to me, the date also suits.
