Fuel Bladders - Group Buy

Post by _Wilks »

Listen up 8) .

For any of you considering buying a fuel bladder to cope with those long ride legs beyond your bikes range here's an offer too good to refuse.

Paul from http://www.liquidcontainment.com/fuel_bladders.php has given the nod for a single order for approx 10 bladders (or more) at $150ea plus post. Thats approx $50 saved!. The standard bladder sizes are 8, 10 or 12 litres (the price doesn't vary). Paul is happy to do custom size orders still at $150 so long as they are not bigger than 12 litres. Being a bladder and not a rigid container it should be remembered that for custom orders the final volume cannot be precise, only an estimation.

See http://bmwmccwa.asn.au/phpBB/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=57 on this forum for more discussion/photos of the bladders.

Whilst this is a forum open to the public, I'm only prepared to coordinate the group buy on behalf of BMWMCCWA members... sorry (join up & put the $50 saved on the bladder towards club membership). Payment will need to go through me. I'll discuss payment method, receipts and warranty stuff off-line with the final group of buyers.

Initial close-off date will be 30 January 2009; may be extended depending on response. PM me to register your interest.

Shane.

Hi Devlin and welcome to the fold.

The group buy is still on. I have 5 orders now (including yours). I no longer need one myself - I bought a GSA instead - but I'm happy to coordinate things. Those wanting a fuel bladder aren't in a hurry so I'll let the group buy run a few more weeks before calling for final orders. It's best if we can reach 10 orders - bigger saving!

If you haven't already seen it, please make sure you look at the Desert Raid info on the club home page (click on the Desert Raid logo). It promises to be a great gathering.

Cheers

Do they do Bourbon Bladders?

You'd probably need Bourbon mate, the average GSA does 6.5 l/100 kms and loaded its probably closer to 7l/100kms. With 33 usable litres that gives you a theoretical range of 485 km. I'd hazard a guess it's less and when you consider most of us fill when the reserve comes on then it's probably around 420 odd kays (Less? Come on be honest).

The F800GS gives me 300 kms (the last 5 tanks so far, with full panniers) and then the reserve light comes on. I've heard it said there is 50 more kays in the reserve but notwithstanding that, a 10 litre fuel bladder is going to give me another 250 kays until the reserve light comes on again. That's 550 kays for weight penalty of around 12 kg (fuel and bladder). I can drink more beer than that in a night.....mmm. Maybe not but in any case I'd have thought a behemoth of a motorcycle like a GSA would really be in need of fuel bladders to beat the fuel issue.

Maybe there is something more to owning a GSA but then you get sand or really loose surfaces........

Yeh, but I own a standard GS, my range is about 350 loaded, that does change with speed, headwind etc, the F800's proberbly get a better fuel economy, but lets face it.... there a GIRLS BIKE!!,(Sorry, but they were brought out for people who are scared of GS's) yes I know the GS hates sand, but it loves everything else.

Hi Shane,

Please add me to your list of members for the group buy.

The only thing that I wasn't clear on in your mail was what size were you intendeing to buy or do we nominate?

It appears that 8,10 & 12litre bladders are all the same price?

Cheers

Paddy,
Cheers - I've added your name to the list.

Richard H, GeoffCNC, Devling & Paddy
One person has withdrawn, so the group buy is only 5. The good news is Paul will stick to $150ea (approx). Please check your personal message inbox for more details.

I'll aim to get the order off to Liquid Containment by Friday 27th.

PM sent to Group Buyers... or at least I think it's been sent :?:. For some reason the PM remains in my "Outbox" instead of "Sent Items". Let me know if I need to send it again.

I have received the bladders. Sturdy looking piece of kit too.

Jamie, Geoff & Devlin - I'll bring yours to our next club meeting on 15th April. If you want/need it earlier, please send an email to me at "records at bmwmccwa asn au" and we'll work out an alternative.

Paddy - can you send me an email (to records etc) to make a suitable arrangement?

Cheers

If anyone missed out on this fantastic offer, your in luck, I have no use for the un used bladder I bought as I am increasing my fuel capacity another way, so if you want it, I'm selling it below cost for $149.95, if your interested let me know.

Hi Shane,

I have been wanting to thankyou since picking up my bladder from your place (in your absence) last month.
With the forum being off line it has taken until now.

Cheers mate, I am sure I will make it to Carnegie now.
