The Vintage Motorcycle Club of WA is bidding to run the Tazzie 2013 Event, in March next year. It is a 2 week grand tour of the island, with a reasonably well structured itinerary. I did the last event, the Tazzie 2010 event, with my wife, Leony on our 1978 R100RS, in March 2010. It was definitely a good crack. It was not limited to oldies but rather those with a preference for ye olde worlde cruising. It normally attracts 50+ entries. Or are you looking for a low key, lone wolf tour? John

Re: Tasmania 2013
Hello John and Ray
Any updates on either front? I am keen to ride Tassie next year, meet in Victoria, ferry across, lap of Tassie and back to Victoria, just need some notice to book time off.
I believe there are a few people keen to ride from WA and some Victorians up for a play as well.
Several people have expressed an interest over the last few days, we will need to brainstorm all the ideas - IE potential dates, partners, camping or B&B, dirt deviations, black top treats, how far each day, how long in Island in total etc.
I will canvas our east coast friends next week and come back with a list to add to your thoughts.

Hi Cookie. The VMCC run is still on, in March, it'll be organised by the Tassie Vintage mob. I won't be going, because I'll be preparing for a U.K. trip. I'll find the link and post it here. Even though I don't expect a BMW lot to ride with the oldies, I remember that it is wise to do it before April (the weather packs up big time, a bit like N.Z.)

Re: Tasmania 2013
Good morning to all fellow riders,
Well 2013 is here, who is up for a ride around Tasmania? March is my preferrence, but open to discussion, keen to spend around a week touring the island.
There is talk of shipping some bikes across to Melbourne, to save travel time, others have expressed an interest in hopping between B&B's rather than camping.
Catch up with me at breakfast or by PM, I hope to set my plans within the next few weeks.

G'day Cookie
March is a little early for me; I think. Please keep me in the loop just in case I can swing it.
I need to do some research about shipping my bike to VIC and back.
Happy New Year to all our readers.

Re: Tasmania 2013
My plan for Tasmania is to hire a 1200 GS in Hobart and ride for 6 days from Saturday March 16th to Thursday March 21.
I propose staying in B&Bs (not camping) with only minor departures from the bitumen.
The only other stipulation is stopping briefly at a few wineries on Day 2.
On Saturday morning I plan to visit the Salamanca Markets.
Day One: Depart Hobart midday travel via Tasman Highway to Coles Bay 220km
Day Two: Coles Bay-Bicheno-St Helens-Binalong Bay-Scottsdale-Bridgport-George Town - Launceston 380km
Day Three: Launceston -Stanley via Exeter and Port Sorrell 250km
Day Four: Stanley - Strahan via Wynyard, Roseberry and Queenstown 289 km
Day Five: Strahan to Mayadena 289 km
Day Six: Mayadena-Gordon Dam-Lake Pedder-Hobart 250 km
About 1680 km in 5 full riding days

Hello Bozo
Let me check my calendar, your dates might be workable for me, or at least overlap for majority of the trip.
