Hello Serpy here. Had to re-register on Public Forum due to some glitch.
I have been talking to Cookie and, due to me living a fair way South of the City, have arranged to meet the group leaving Midvale on Saturday morning at Corrigin Roadhouse.
I would rather not fit the panniers and, without them I 'll be struggling to carry 10 L of spare fuel. I can carry 5L easily enough. We apparently have a 400 km round trip between fuel. I 'm on a GS 1100 with a standard tank. Do the more learned off roaders among you think 5L will suffice or should I carry 10L?
Cheers All
Brian Bolton

Re: Weekend overnighter 27th & 28th April
Hello Brian
A typical GS will get around 20km per litre, at 100km per hour, so if you tank holds over 20 litres - a 5 litre backup should be adequate fuel stock.
On the dirt we will be travelling at lower speeds than highway, so consumption should be lower.
I will carry 5 litres as a back up (my bike has 25 litre tank), just in case someone gets caught short.

Re: Getting there on a GS...
Hey Steve,Digger wrote:Cookie, i am interested in going...but as usual, will probably take some backroads.
For those who may be interested, i will be going via Pingelly, Kondinin and Kalgarin but sticking to backroads (mostly unsealed, 444 km to Hyden) commencing with Ashendon and Metro Roads. The planned roads are GS friendly (big bike friendly) providing you have had some 'limited' unsealed experience. In the main, the roads are as good as the Hyden to Norseman Road. If there has been some rain prior then i will modify the route accordingly.
Probably meet at Dome Mundaring for those North of the River and meet at the Southern end of Ashendon Road for those South of River.
The return journey will be a mix of unsealed and blacktop.
Steve
I'd like to tag along if that's ok,
What time would you expect to be at the south end of Ashendon road, as i'll meet there.
Thanks,
Robbo.

Re: Weekend overnighter 27th & 28th April
Thank you to all that made the time to come out for a play in the east, 9 bikes, 1 car & 11 people enjoyed a variety of routes to get there and back, some even found the Breakaways on the way back. Weather and road conditions were brilliant, a good time was had by all, a shade over 1040 km for the trip door to door.
